... What followed was some very enjoyable and harmless banter, into which several other members were drawn (you'll know who you are!) at which stage Carol knick named me "The Madman of Ciao"! HOTEL, GUEST HOUSE, B & B or CIAO MEMBERS HOME?

Advantages: Position. Carol & Pete's Hospitality. The Bacon.
Disadvantages: The Sea Wall. Invisible Windmill........read on.......

...- that place being The Windmill Hotel and Steak Bar on Blackpool's South Shore Promenade.

Before I knew it, thanks to Carol sending me a link, I had given myself an introduction to this sea front hotel via the website, accompanied by the strains of a once great Carly Simon hit "nobody does it better", so here we are, on the way to Blackpool to discover, if indeed "nobody does it better" than Carol and husband Pete, ...
...Steak House you'll find The Windmill Hotel.

Hotel, B&B, Guest House or Ciao members' home?

Well, in truth maybe it is just a little of all four, most importantly really, having now had the privilege of staying there, the latter I think. This place is Carol and Pete's home, in a very real sense an extension of their personality. It is both family home and business. Where one ends and the other starts is a little difficult ... more

BRANDON BED& BREAKFAST

Advantages: MEAT TASTE'S BEST IN EIRE BREAKFAST
Disadvantages: NONE

Recommend a bed and breakfast BRANDON BED& BREAKFAST I have stayed at this bed & breakfast a couple of times when I have gone back to Eire. It's a clean respectable B&B and welcome home it's run by lovely lady called Angela Hagerty it's family ran busy. The hospitable is so nice in this place you will not want to come home. The prices are reasonable as well. It has a no smoking polices but most places in Eire are the same. It is right beside regency ...

Beautiful, picteresque grounds, set on a golf course

Advantages: Impressive, pretty grounds
Disadvantages: costly for overnight rooms

I chose the The Windmill Village Hotel in Coventry as the venue for my wedding reception in 2005. There were a quite a few reasons why. Firstly, the location was a good one, we had many guests travelling from Birmingham, so they just had to nip down the A45, the in-laws, live fairly close by so taxi fares etc would not extortionate for them. Having said about the taxi fares.... its a by pass and you have to drive for miles and miles before being able to turn around and head back in the direction you actually want to be in. Secondly, the venue itself is pretty and very impressive. There are two large function rooms that they use for Weddings. We were shown around the bigger one first which has the most amazing ceiling lighting. That sealed it for me. Sadly, when it came to booking, that room was already taken so we had to ...

Clifton Arms Hotel

Advantages: The Best Hotel in Lytham St Annes.
Disadvantages: Whoa! is it pricey!

This Hotel is in the prime position in Lytham. It faces the 2 or so miles of Lytham Green. There are scenic views of the Welsh hills and the Pennines in the distance and views of the Ribble Estuary. Close by is the famous windmill. The hotel takes its name from the Clifton family. They were the main landowners in the area. There are many references to the Clifton family locally. Their family seat was Lytham Hall. This is open to the public on occasion. It is now owned by an insurance company. (AXA) The Clifton Arms Hotel was first erected on Clifton Street, in the space that is now Park Street, on or around 1794. This was apparently a coaching inn. Its successor, the current hotel, was built in 1840 on West Beach. In 1875 all buildings comprising the hotel were raised to the same height. Clearly the hotel was built at the height ...

A COOL CALM INN ON THE SILOM ROAD.

Advantages: Very well situated for a sightseeing trip to Bangkok.
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.

We stayed for four nights at the 4* Holiday Inn Silom Bangkok in June 2007. It takes its name from its address on the Silom (Windmill) Road. The hotel has twin towers - The Crown Tower and The Plaza Tower and between them they have 700 rooms and suites. There are four lifts serving each tower. ↔↔↔↔↔↔↔↔↔ The hotel is perfectly positioned for a sightseeing trip to this bustling city?..it 's within a five minute walk of Surasak Skytrain Station, a ten minute walk of the nearest Chao Phraya River Pier - to make use of river taxis and buses - and a ten minute walk in the evening takes you to the bustling Patpong night market. ↔↔↔↔↔↔↔↔↔ The entrance road to the hotel is quite understated but once in view of the glass ...
