Advantages: All the usual trademarks of an Irving novel Disadvantages: If you aren't used to him you may find it a little odd
wacky and just about wacky enough to get me interested in reading the novel.
I have read just about anything that has been written byIrving (apart from 'The Fourth hand' but that is being reserved by my local library - use your libraries more, they are an invaluable source of reading material!). The only book I found disappointing was 'A Son of The Circus'- I just couldn't get into the tale of doctors on the subcontinent, dwarves and murder.
Anyway, back to the review. 'A Widow for One Year' opens, as do many books nowadays, with sex. The one thing about Irving is that he doesn't make it passionate and steamy, he always tends to add a comic slant to it, in this case by the use of a lampshade to cover embarrassment.

the lives of these two people - first as young boys and later as young men, and the fantastic events that shape their outlook on life - as well as death. Telling you more about the story of this book would certainly spoil you for the wonderful read.
One of the things that is classic about John Irving and his novels is the way he pulls you back and forth in the story. His stories aren't linear, and he will bring you back to bits in the past when ever he feels that you need a bit of information that might give you insight into an event or character. And, as you reach the endings to his stories, you also find that he foreshadows heavily throughout his books.
In "A Prayer for Owen Meany" he uses these methods to absolute perfection, and as you are drawn into the book and pulled along by events and the characters, you are exposed to ...

I have been to the colina Mar 3 times now, so it must be good. Here are some of the good, bad and ugly things about the hotel and area.
I love going on holiday to warm places and Grand Canaria is just the place, only 4.5hr on the plane a 45min transfer to Puerto Rico. I was first attracted to Colina Mar as the price was fantastic only £500 for 2 Weeks Self Catering. There are so many nice places to eat and the food is really cheep.

Puerto Rico is in a valley, both sides are filled with hotels. Not a goog location for anyone who has trouble walking. Colina Mar is places on the top of the right side as you look out to sea. This gives fantastic views of the beach, main shopping Cnt. Not all rooms have a good view, the best rooms to request are 217-224, 117-124, 225-232 and 125-132.
