Woburn Safari Park is located in a small village in Bedfordshire just off the M1. It's really well signposted and very easy to get too..

Woburn safari park has been there since the 1970's as is dedicated to the conservation of many endangered and rare animals.

Me and my husband took my sisters two boys, we had already taken them to most of the zoos in England and was looking for somewhere different to take them this time, i searched in Google and Woburn Safari Park came up which sounded like a great day out, it has a massive website with loads of useful information..

We live near Peterborough so it only took us approx 30 to 40 minuites to get there.

We paid £13.50 for our two tickets and approx £8 for the kids which i thought was a little on the expensive side at first but we had a good 5+ hours there and had such a fantastic day i now think its actually well worth the money and quite good value..A guide and map can also be purchased to help you find your way around - this was approx £2.
Unders 3's get to go in free of charge.

When we arrived there was quite a large que of cars but fortunately we didnt have to wait that long to get in - about 15-20 minuites.

The entrance gates look like something from Jurassic Park which made the boys really excited about what was going to be on the other side!

There is a large picnic area and toilets before you entered the safari
The staff were extremely friendly, smiley and helpful and really seemed like they enjoyed working there..

The first animals we saw on the safari was the Zebras, none of us had ever seen a Zebra in real life before so this was great - Next was the rhinos and a large hippo bathing in a small muddy pond ...

You could see straight away that all the animals were really well looked after and very happy, they had massive amounts of room to roam around and had lots of food and water.

There were lots of members of staff scattered around the fields in green jeeps and matching polo tops so we felt really safe as we was driving around.

Next we saw a beautiful, large Oryx and then we entered the tigers and lions....this was probably the most best part of the safari as they were so large and fierce looking and they were all really close to our car, it was really quite fascinating to watch them all, they were eating big chunks of raw meat and roughly playing with each other, we could of spent hours at this section...

Next we saw lots of wolves which was amazing too, when we got there the wolves were eating a small rabbit which looked a bit gruesome but the boys loved it!
Im not sure if that was given to them as food from the staff or if the rabbit had just run into the wolves by mistake..!

We then saw the black bears - lots of them were in the trees and in the large tyres that were put there for them to play in and swing on, these also looked pretty scary too but it was amazing to see them so close like that, we got to see them eating different things and again they were really close to our car which was great.

Then we saw the monkeys but we didnt manage to get a great view of these as most of them were up high in the trees and lastly there was the large elephants and the giraffes and a few other large animals.

It took roughly 45/50 minuites to get around the circuit and once you have paid to get in you can go around it as many times as you wish.......

At the end of the safari there is a 'Wild World Leisure Area' where there is several cafes/resturaunts, gift shops, toilets and lots of things for the kids to do..we parked our car in the large car park and walked over to see what was there.......

The kids loved this part, there was small fair rides they could have a go on, a sea lion enclosure, parks, a large lake with swan boats, a large gift shop with lots of toys and books etc that were all to do with the endagered animals we had just seen, a resuraunt serving hot and cold food, but be warned the food it quite pricey, train rides, a reptile centre, a hot dog stand, ice cream stands and loads, loads more!!

There was also a large maze for the which was approx £4 to go in but we didnt have time to do this after the park, eating, going on the swan boats and seeing the sea lions...and by then we were really tired!!!

The guide was really useul and was packed full of information so i would recommend you purchase one of these - Its also a nice thing to keep too and you can use it if you ever go back .

I would highly recommend Woburn as its a great day out for all ages..theres so much to see and do and the kids had a great day, they also learned quite a lot about endagered animals too!

We will definately be going back to Woburn in the very near future, the kids are already asking when we can next go back!
