A day trip and New York City offers much the same in Macys

I have been to Woodbury Common a couple of times and know several people who have too. Mody of us are of the same opinion..it's great. However, if you are going to be doing any shopping in New York City the likely hood is that you will be able to find everything you need in the likes of Macy's, Century 21, Old Navy, etc.
If you're passing Woodbury Common, and you have the time (there are loads of shops) call in, but I don't know if I would make it a day trip if there were other sights I might miss due to it..
It is very clean and family friendly though and pretty easy to find by car , if you have someone who can map read. The road signs in the USA take a little while to get used to. Also beware of the tolls. They are cheap, but sometimes you get a ticket which you then give to the next toll and the price depends on how are you have been. By cheap I mean $1 or $2.
