Advantages: Very well situated for a sightseeing trip to Bangkok. Disadvantages: None that I can think of.
...We stayed for four nights at the 4* Holiday Inn Silom Bangkok in June 2007.
It takes its name from its address on the Silom (Windmill) Road.
The hotel has twin towers - The Crown Tower and The Plaza Tower and between them they have 700 rooms and suites.
There are four lifts serving each tower.

The hotel is perfectly positioned for a sightseeing trip to this bustling city…..it 's within a five minute walk of Surasak Skytrain Station, a ten minute walk of the nearest Chao Phraya River Pier - to make use of river taxis and buses - and a ten minute walk in the evening takes you to the bustling Patpong night market.

The entrance road to the hotel is quite understated but once in view of the glass...

Advantages: location, standard of hotel, staff, breakfast Disadvantages: maybe some people would say it's not mid range?
...I would highly rate the holiday innBangkok on ploenchit road as a good mid range hotel. I would stay here again and again (I actually am booked to stay here next june!) for a variety of different reasons.
Location:
The hotel is in central Bangkok and has an array of amenities on it's doorstep. Right outside of the hotel is one of the stops on the sky train so you can easily access anywhere from here anyway. The hotel is also across the road(literally) from a shopping centre (the century world plaza) and underneath the arcade is a starbucks, boots and macdonalds. Not what you go to thailand for but there none the less should you need a cheap late night snack!
Sukumvit road is only about 5 minutes walk away so for nightlife here you don't have to take a taxi or tuk tuk (even though you must do a tuk tuk at least once while in bangkok...

Advantages: very clean hotel. Disadvantages: no window.
...-kit etc. the only problem i had was there was no window to look out of, just a very long mirror, which had curtains drawn over it. it would have been quite nice to see over Bangkok at such a height, but it wasn't worth complaining about. the hotel has a couple of bars one of which is very classy and elegant. Myself I enjoyed the comical surroundings of the 'London Inn' further down the road, complete with original pint jars to drink out of. and the Irish bar down the road serves a very good lunch, in a 50's style diner. all in all a very good hotel, and i would definately stay there again if i found myself in Bangkok....

As a fairly regular visitor to Bangkok, I always book flights and then sort out my own accommodation rather than get a package deal. Accommodation is cheap and plentiful there, we're talking £10 - £15 per night for what might equate to a three star... more
I choose this hotel as a result of a special offer on 'asiarooms'. On arrival we were promptly shown to our room by a very helpful member of staff.
The Deluxe room was a lot bigger tahn other hotels I have stayed in. However, it did seem a little... more
