We have just returned from the Golden Coast Holiday Village (01/08/08) and would not recommend this holiday to anyone. We paid nearly £800.00 for 1 weeks accomodation staying in a Rose villa. This was the worst accomodation i have ever experienced. On arriving the damp and musty smell was overpowering, we had a huge rip in our very old and stained settee which measured about 8-10 cm wide showing dirty foam. I complained to reception who gave me a can of air freshener and a throw! I decided to try and make the best of it for the sake of my three children. There were dirty splash marks on the radiator, hairs in the bath, and cobwebs. I cleaned around myself, hoovering and scrubbing. Later we also noticed the wallpaper coming off behind the lounge door and a large hole in the 2nd bedroom wall.
We had no light in the bathroom and when i told reception they gave me a bulb to put in myself! After 3 hot sunny days when we were able to spend alot of time outside we had torrential rain and this then made the holiday unbearable as we had to spend more time in the accomodation. The final straw was when i found 2 slugs in the kitchen drawer! We left 2 days early and have written and complained.
In hindsight i should have made a bigger fuss and either asked to be upgraded or for a refund. This is not an isolated incident as the family next to us had complaints too and left early and that was after being moved from an estoril caravan, and the family next to them called 3 cleaners in before they would enter their accomodation. Please dont go there. It was my worst holiday, I dont want it to be yours.
