Where would we all be without a Woolworths in our lives!? Woolworths is such a useful shop to me and my family and I'm sure many people would agree with me! The shop sells products that range from sweets to music to kitchen ware to clothes! Many stores are situated around our country and you will most probably find a store in nearly any town you visit!
The stores are all really clean and take up a lot of space so each product is easy to find. The stores are usually split into main sections such as FOOD AND DRINK, CLOTHES AND SHOES, MUSIC AND VIDEO ENTERTAINMENT, STATIONARY, KITCHEN APPLIANCES, GARDEN APPLIANCES, AND LASTLY CHILDRENS TOYS. (Many more items as well!)
FOOD AND DRINK
The food and drink section of the shop varies from sweets, crisps, pick and mix and drinks such as fizzy pop in bottles and cans. The prices are also varied, some products are cheaper than in other stores whilst some are more expensive.
CLOTHES AND SHOES
The clothes and shoes at Woolies are very reasonable in price and quality. There are NO adults or teenage clothes, the clothes are aged from newborn to about 10 years old. Woolworths sell the 'LADYBIRD' range of childrens clothes and whilst some are not that terrific others are really nice. It's all a matter of opinion. Woolies also sell childrens shoes AGAIN some nice some not and reasonable in price and quality.
MUSIC AND VIDEO ENTERTAINMENT
Woolworths have recently boosted their profits enlarging their entertainment section, not only do they just sell music as in CD singles and albums, video games, videos, DVD's, they now sell TV's Video players, CD players, Hifi's and game consoles and many more electrical items as well. This section in Woolies is very popular at the moment and recently I heard that Woolies sells up to a third of CD singles in the UK! WOW I know! Woolies also have a large range of mobile phones.
STATIONARY
Woolworths sell a large amount of stationary which varies from a pen and paper set to a magazine. They sell all kinds of pens, paper, pencils etc... NORMAL STATIONARY at very good prices. They also sell pencil cases, pinboards, white boards, stickers and sticky back plastic. (MANY MORE ITEMS THESE ARE JUST A SELECTED FEW!) You can also buy magazines and newspapers of all kinds, basically any newspaper and magazines vary from girl mags to sport mags to soap mags! All priced at the normal price.
KITCHEN APPLIANCES
Woolies have a very good selection of Kitchen and household items. The NEW woolies which has just opened in my town centre has a whole different floor for this section of the shop! I don't know much about this section of the shop because I'm not really interested in it, all I know is that it sells quite a lot of useful items at good prices. It must be quite good because my mum bought her whole set of kitchen plates and dishes from the shop with a dlivery service as well!
GARDEN APPLIANCES
Well I can't really comment on the garden appliances much either, I've seen some plants based in the shop at around a pound or two each which looks quite a good reasonable price~nothing special to say on this subject though!
CHILDRENS TOYS
Woolies have a VERY large selection of kids toys from when there only a few days old to an adult really! They sell games which suit any age at really good reasonable prices, all of great satisfaction, this is also a VERY popular section of the shop, the one where the little kiddies run to first!
CONCLUSION
The woolies motto is as they tell us, 'A Trip To Woolies Is Well Worth It!' and it's true not only will you find most things that you need but they will all be reasonably priced as well. Woolies may not be the nicest place to shop but give it a go, if your desperate you will shop in there! If you think about it all Woolies is a very large newsagents with everything you need with some clothes and electrical items shoved in for some good measure and popularity to be named a department store!
OTHER ITEMS
Other items in the shop include~
Lottery tickets Chewing gum and many more items that you can think of such as umbrellas etc......
Hope you have fun shopping at woolie thanks for taking the time to read my opinion~much appreciated
Advantages: Wonderful range of goods Disadvantages: Tacky - the Morecambe of high street shops
When I was a little kid, I used to love going to Woolworth’s – for me, it was the pinnacle of the shopping experience. How times change!
Woolworth’s is hell on earth for everyone concerned – adults, kids and the staff themselves. It’s one huge big confused mess of a store with products spilling out into the aisle, crammed in as tightly as possible and topped off with a unique ‘smell’ which I will describe ... ...pull Woolies up on is variety. They’ve got Cd’s, games, videos, kids clothes, gardening stuff, sweets, stationary, kitchenware, books, toys, magazines and newspapers. In fact, it’s got the lot. And most of it is pretty reasonably priced – if you pick your bargains, you can save a fortune and they do have a local price guarantee which means you can’t be undercut anywhere else.
However, it is this wide variety that is ...

Advantages: Good range of products, FANTASTIC prices on CD's DVD's etc, clean well lit store, easy accessibility for Physically challenged, a good range of products Disadvantages: Not the cheapest for confectionery, annoying queueing system which is like the Post office-but then again you can't have everything.
Woolworths is one of the stores I remember going into back in 1969 at the age of six for my parents to buy me a birthday present. Since then , they relocated the store into the Mander Centre which was up until ten years ago the biggest in Europe. They downsized the premesis massivly though, having lost two floors to Boots and squeezing everything into the one floor. I spoke to a member of staff
on this issue who told me that Woolworths had the same ... ...made good business sense.
Woolworths used to be a cramped, poorly lit store with a range of budget products. As a result, I went elsewhere but now the store has had it's first major refit in ten years, it has experienced a dramatic improvement. The lighting, product range, accessibility and staff levels have been changed out of all proportion- a very big thumbs up on this occasion.
Anyway, back to the store.
The Wolverhampton Store is situated ...

Advantages: High Street locations, range of products Disadvantages: cluttered displays/only deals in minimum of each range
...that the whole concept of Woolworths has somehow been stuck in a time warp of about 20 years ago.
They, on the face of it, offer a huge range of goods for sale. However, when you start to look a little deeper, I think you will find that there range is very limited.
The store tries to cram in Music and videos, computer games, toys, stationary, children clothing, confectionery, garden equipment and general hardware goods. There are probably other items ... ...I would hate to see Woolworths go from the High Street but there again perhaps the problem is that the High Street has changed in the last 20 years and Woolworths have failed to change with it. I think the shops are unappealing and the staff within them are not of the highest quality.
I would suggest that they focus their marketing on fewer ranges but become experts in whatever they deal in. ...

We have quite a big ‘Woolworths’ near our house, and because of that I think it’s such a good high street shop. It has a huge variety of things in stock, I was quite surprised to find they even sold baby clothes. The shops are very well organised, with all the music section in one place, the sweets and magazines in one area, the baby clothes and items at the back, the gifts/presents in another area. The reason I like shopping at ... ...places which just cramp things together, and more that two people can’t be walking in the same direction. They have an excellent music section, with all the latest releases. It’s just like ‘Our Price’, and it sells music accessories like headphones and other music things like CD players, walkman, so you can buy whatever you want in music, at ‘Woolworth’s’. They also sell all the latest computer games, for ...

Advantages: great prices Disadvantages: bare rooted plants can be tricky
...this year I would suggest Woolworths as your first port of call.
Although offers vary slightly from store to store generally they have bargains such as bare rooted apple trees for £7.99 .Likewise Pears and peaches too up to £9.99.
I bought a hardy grape vine ( blanc sauvigon) for £2.99 in good health too what a bargain.
After over twenty years in the gardening industry believe me when I say this is very good value indeed. I know bare rooted trees ... ...container grown counterparts but these prices are still cheaper than your average garden centre.
They charge around £15 to £ 20 pounds for trees in containers and although these are established they are in my view overpriced. Not only that some of them have moss growing in the pots , canker on the stems and frankly for twenty quid my advice is to walk away.
Also available in Woolies are Mock Orange , for £ 1.99 ,Rhubarb at £2.99 Spirea , bulbs and ...

The Mander and Wulfrun Centres offer traditional shopping under cover. All the big names are here?M&S, Woolworth, Littlewoods, BhS, WHSmith, C&A (sadly, due to close soon.) There are numerous other small and specialist shops, wonderful for browsing. In fact, everyone is well catered for. And if all that shopping leaves you dying for a cuppa, there are cafes in Woolworth, BhS and the city?s favourite departmentstore, Beatties of Wolverhampton, as well as a number of smaller cafes.
Speaking of refreshments, as you would expect in the city which is home to every Black Country man?s favourite brewery, The Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries, there are a host of licensed premises ...
