The forum is a relatively large building that houses a few different things for the use of the local community mainly but is open to everyone.
Facilities:
library - this was done in the refurb which has seen a complete ... ...variety of books and audio cds and a up to date collection of dvds to rent out. You can also rent cd's too. There is a good sized childrens section with a few games and squishy chairs etc. They also have acomputer set up for the older children, which, i think is a playstation.
Both upstairs and downstairs they have pcs that you can use free of charge if you are a library member (which is free to become a member) and the use of a printer if ... more

The forum is a relatively large building that houses a few different things for the use of the local community mainly but is open to everyone.
Facilities: library - this was done in the refurb which has seen a complete new look and a smarter image. It has a huge variety of books and audio cds and a up to date collection of dvds to rent out. You can also rent cd's too. There is a good sized childrens section with a few games and squishy chairs etc. They also have acomputer set up for the older children, which, i think is a playstation. Both upstairs and downstairs they have pcs that you can use free of charge if you are a library member (which is free to become a member) and the use of a printer if you need it (10p per sheet charge). Upstairs they also have a learn direct centre which is actually quite busy most of the time. They have study rooms for students and i think you can arrange to hire these rooms aswell for large study groups if need be. The libraray is open from 9am normally until 8-9pm depending on the day of the week and on sundays is 11-5.
Cafe: The forum houses a cafe which sells the usual beverages and a variety of light snacks and main meals. Much better since it was modernised! reasonably priced and tends to be a local meeting point for the older folk of the community! I think this place is open until about 6ish but don't quote me on that!
jobe centre: The forum now houses a job centre which is new from the refurb and it is a decent size with all the usual things that are in any other of the main job centre offices.
meeting rooms: The forum houses some smaller meeting rooms and some smaller function rooms - not sure on prices to hire or even if there is a charge but they are of adequate size from what i've seen.
Main hall: Now this used to hall larger functions and a kids disco every saturday that had bouncy castles and the like for younger children so not sure if that still takes place every now and then but they do tend to hold local school events here now like plays and dance competiotions things like that.
Nursery: The forum has a nursery next door to it which was also new as part of the refurb. pretty decnt size and a good addition but, i don't really know much more about it i'm afraid as i don't have children or know anyone who takes their chilrden there. However i would say that it does look busy and seems to have a lot of activities going on in the summer.
gym: The gym has had a total refurb since the forum was done and it is probably the best improvement of all. the gym is now a lot larger and holds the usual classes you'd expect to be able to find in a gym like water aerobics, body pump, spinning etc. Price wise you can pay for membership or per session which a years membership starts at about £16.00 for just entry and pool but if you want to be able to do classes and health spa aswell then it is about £30 per month. The gym is open from 6.30am to 10pm monday to friday and 9-5 saturday and sunday. One thing to note with hti gym which i think a lot of other gyms do is charge a joining fee but they don't here so that is prettty good!
Overall look: The forum used to be quite dinghy and had those horrible orange lights in the ceiling so was always quite dim with shocking black plastice type floor tiles. since the refurb, it has been given nice bright white lighting and a lovely tiled grwy/white flooring. You can enter the forum from either side of the building and in the main foyer, whcih is quite large, they now have display stands where they show off the locals schools artwork which is nice as it shows it's community side and gives it a more local feel.
Location: The forum is right next to all the shops of the main civic centre in wythenshawe, manchester and a new feature now is that it has it's own purpose built car park which is nice and big so no trouble getting a space and is free too. The main entrance is on the car park side but, as i said you can enter from the other side coming from the shops. Just outside the main entrance there is also a bus stop so if you are coming out of here you wouldn't need to walk all the way back to the main bus stop across the civic centre.
this is a nice local place and it kept in a clean condition and worth a visit. the website conatins any more info you may need which is listed below for you.
Advantages: Great facilities! Disadvantages: Depends how far you have to travel!
In General:
Years ago, this place was a rundown centre of the town, with hundreds using the facilities every day it wasnt ideal and needed a renervation. Which it gladly received...
Looks:
It now looks modern with a highly colourful exterior, the modern look doesnt end there. Inside the Forum, local art is shown ina miniture gallery. Making it a nice place to visit when you have a few minutes spare.
Facilities:
Including a library, Gym, Swimming ... ...fully appopriate for all ages. Old and young now use this and it really brings the community together, well as together as it can be!
Prices:
The prices are really affordable;
Gym: £5 a time or £40 a month! including access into the pool, steam room and sauna!
Cafe: Although I have never used the cafe i understand that for a Latte it costs around £2 which is really cheap considering you can go to the more known places and pay £1 more!
Swimming ...
