My favourite park!

Advantages: Lots of space and things to see and do
Disadvantages: None

I have lived near Wythenshawe park all my life and it’s somewhere I have been many, many times. It is an ideal place for many things and for me it is great for walking the dogs in. I shall give a little bit of information of Wythenshawe park and my personal opinion on it.

The location:
Wythenshawe park is fairly big and located in Baguley. The park has the long and very busy, main road named Altrincham ...
...Hall located in the park. Wythenshawe hall has been there since 1540 when it was built by the Tatton family who then sold the park to Lord Simon of Wythenshawe. Nowadays the hall is open to the public from March to September and can also be hired for private functions such as weddings and the grounds of the hall certainly make for a great photo backdrop! There is also a tea room to get light snacks and drinks located behind the hall - this is open ... more

Wythenshawe Hall and Park, Northenden, Manchester

Advantages: Free admission to both the Hall and Park.
Disadvantages: Not much of the Hall is open to the public.

Wythenshawe Hall and Park is situated in Northenden, Manchester. It is set in approximately 250 acres of parkland to the south of Manchester City. The park has recreational facilities including football pitches, bowling greens, tennis courts, and a children’s playground. The Tatton family built Wythenshawe Hall in 1557 and they resided there until 1926 when Robert Tatton sold the Hall and park to Lord Simon of Wythenshawe. Lord Simon donated ...
...the statute was brought to Wythenshawe Park to stand outside Wythenshawe Hall, where battles took place in the civil war in the early 15th century. Oliver Cromwell and his Parliamentary Forces tried to take over Wythenshawe Hall but failed. As admission to the Park and Hall is free of charge, this makes a great afternoon out – even although not much of the Hall is accessible to the public, it is still worth a visit. ...

Big,Bubbly...But ....BORING!

Advantages: Could have great potential
Disadvantages: Descimated

...most parks in its league Wythenshawe Park was once the seat of gentry, but due to lack of investment...the hall is in great diss-repair and is unsightly to say the least. I remember as a child...that this park held great fascination for me...and i too remember cycling over ten miles to reach it on each visit....but these days...i would not even waste the bus-fare!. Sorry Wythenshawe Park...but to my mind you are a has-been...and i would not reccomend ...

great community spot for everyone

Advantages: lots of different things for different people
Disadvantages: maybe more eatiries for the future would be nice!

horrible orange lights in the ceiling so was always quite dim with shocking black plastice type floor tiles. since the refurb, it has been given nice bright white lighting and a lovely tiled grwy/white flooring. You can enter the forum from either side of the building and in the main foyer, whcih is quite large, they now have display stands where they show off the locals schools artwork which is nice as it shows it's community side and gives it a more local feel. Location: The forum is right next to all the shops of the main civic centre in wythenshawe, manchester and a new feature now is that it has it's own purpose built car park which is nice and big so no trouble getting a space and is free too. The main entrance is on the car park side but, as i said you can enter from the other side coming from the shops. Just outside the main entrance ...
