Advantages: Beautiful dining room Disadvantages: Bedrooms adequate but not elegant.
We stayed at the Hôtel RestaurantLa Flambée in Bergerac in November 2008 for two nights and enjoyed breakfast and dinner. What follows is an honest account as possible about the hotel as I can provide. Hopefully this may help if you are planning to visit this part of the world.
We flew to Bordeaux but the most convenient airport for the hotel is actually in Bergerac as the hotel lies about 2 miles outside the town. Incase you are not familiar with this part of the world these places are in the main wine growing areas, and are in South West France. Flying time from the UK is about an hour and a half if you are flying from the London areas. Easyjet will take you to Bordeaux from Luton, likewise British Airways will fly you from Gatwick, and Ryanair will fly you from Stansted to Bergerac. Advantages: cheaper and quieter than the Alps Disadvantages: long transfer
hotels although an uphill walk from town. There are lots of budget hotels and self catering in Pas.
AndorralaVella is well worth a trip at night to check the shops out? take your credit card and hammer it !! it's really cheap as it's duty free - last trip there resulted in some good pc speakers, a new bling Shaun White snowboard, a new jacket, 2 pairs of Burton bindings? nuff said ! If you want to chill out and have a day off skiing definitely take your swimming costume and go to Caldea It's brilliant, hot saunas, roman baths, Turkish steam baths etc.. a lovely restaurant to visit afterwards well worth doing. Soothing the aches away ! ready for the next day..

Advantages: cheap everything, great nightlife. Disadvantages: not such good snow or terrain as the Alps.
to reach the ski resorts. And with 5 resorts to chose from instead of two, you have suddely got a chamonix-sized area to explore. You can drive East to Soldeu or further on to Pas de la Casa, or head west for Arinsal, Pal and the otherwise inaccessible (and therefore uncrowded) Arcalis. You can pick up hitchhikers and get them to show you the off-piste or tell you about the restaurants in AndorralaVella. Plus, you can shop at leisure in the capitals duty free boutiques, and eat in peace at its restaurants.
Alternatively, you have the freedom to head out of Andorra altogether, and explore a little of France or Spain. It is not a hard drive down to Barcelona, Motorways all the way once you negotiate the pass out of Andorra, and there is plenty of entertainment here whatever the weather. I guess there are also good places to go in France ...
