Just another 'dog' on the shelf

Advantages: Big and fills you up!
Disadvantages: Nothing overly special compared to any other hot dogs

I tend to eat chilli con carne quite a lot and sometimes think I should vary my range of foods - recently I thought a good way to liven up my chilli a bit would be to have 'chilli dogs' instead. Obviously not much on the variation side but at least it has something different than my normal rice with it!! So with this in mind I decided to go and find some hot dogs to have with it. Looking on Tesco's shelves was making it more difficult as there are so many different ones to choose from!! However after some thought and looking at the packaging of them all I decided to buy the Ye Olde Oak finest hot dogs as these looked the best in terms of size and also the fact that I could see the 'dogs' through the glass jar they were in. Packaging: The glass jar is about a couple of inches bigger than a normal sized tin but looks slimmer (this ...

Review of Ye Olde Oak Hot Dog Sausages

Dogs in a tin

Advantages: Handy for snack
Disadvantages: Depends on consumers taste

to get in our bun a lot of the time is the humble British banger and not the soft pink one. In my supermarket there is a large section of tinned and bottled hot dog sausages. I only keep a tin in for young visitors who seem to like them more than I do. My last purchase was a can of Ye Olde Oak Hot dogs and a bag of small soft rolls. Cooking could not be easier as they only require warming on hob for about five minutes. You can of cause do them in Micro but the can does not give any instructions for this. I give them a minute on medium power. If not hot enough, then give them another minute. They should be cooked in the brine that they come in. When cooked they should be eaten within two days of opening and do not store them in the can, use a suitable dish. I do not recommend eating the sausages straight from the brine as they don ...

Review of Ye Olde Oak Hot Dog Sausages

A Hot Diggidy Dog of a snack

Advantages: Cheap and easy to cook
Disadvantages: Not to everyone's liking but hey. The opening device

Hot dogs, what more do I need to say? As soon as the phrase is mentioned, some people will be licking their lips at the thought, and others feeling physically ill. No other dish in my opinion evokes such a diverse range of reactions as the humble hot dog, so here goes my two pence worth on the subject. Oh just one more thing in case anyone has just woken up from under their rock, a hot dog is the American name for a thin soft sausage in a submarine type roll. The first thing I should say is that I love the ol' hot dog, and having not eaten them for a while, I purchased a tin the other day. The make was Ye Olde Oak Premium Hot Dogs, and the tin contained 8 dogs, well sausages anyway :) The price was a snip at 69and they are available to buy from all supermarkets as well as most corner or convenience stores, however the prices may ...
