I was in London recently and we decided to have a look around Knightsbridge. We saw the Harrods supermarket and I was intrigued to see if things cost more in there than in other supermarkets, so off we went to have a look. Once we were inside there are a few snack bars and mini restaurant-type places. One of these was Yo! Sushi which I have been wanting to go to for ages.. so my boyfriend agreed to take me (yay!)

Basically, the Yo! Sushi bar consists of an open plan kitchen, and around that was a table that went around the entire thing (in a square - it looked almost like a breakfast bar) and then bar stools that sat around the table.

There were a lot of people there when we went in and there are only seats for around 30 people, but the staff were really friendly and said that we would get seated quickly. About a minute later we got a seat, which was great. When we sat down, the system was explained to us by the cashier and we could just tuck in!

The food goes around on a conveyor belt around the entire table and you simply pick off the dishes that you want. The dishes are colour coded, this means that all of the food comes on a plastic dish which come in five different colours. These colours indicate the price of your meal. You keep the pile of dishes in front of you and then they are counted at the end once you have finished eating, the cashier puts it into the till and then you will get your total!

There were also a couple of special offers on while we were there, there was unlimited miso soup for £1.75, and you could also drink as much water as you liked for £1. There were water taps at every few seats, both fizzy and still. Alongside the water taps were little jars of wasabi paste, pickled garlic, a bottle of soy sauce and napkins. There was also a box of chop sticks and a little hole in the table where you could get rid of your used sticks.

You don't only have the dishes on the conveyor belt to choose from, if the item is not on there that you want, then you can order from a menu that you are given when you sit down. You can also order extra dishes with just rice on it, or more exotic dishes such as eel sushi or roe.

You don't just have to drink water either, there are beers to choose from and also different juices.

I loved the idea of the restaurant. It is so simple yet so genius, there is something quite futuristic about the whole thing. You can sit down and just get stuck in. There is a wide number of dishes available. Not only is there sushi and salads and beans, but there are also desserts such as fruit salad and mochi. And it doesn't only cater for meat and fish eaters, there is a really good range of vegetarian options too. We each had a miso soup, and then I had spicy chicken, crispy duck and smoked salmon and chive sushi rolls. The cheapest dishes were green and they cost £1.70, and then the most expensive were grey and they cost around £5, the other dishes were priced in between. Even though it was mostly 'do-it-yourself', you had to ask to get your miso soup refilled, but there were always staff milling around to ask.

I really liked the fact that you could see the chefs preparing the food fresh. It was great to watch and quite a novelty. They were constantly putting new dishes onto the belt so there was always a lot to choose from. The dishes were quite small, you only got a couple of rolls on each plate, so you need a few to fill you up which can get a bit expensive, but the food is absolutely wonderful and there is such a great selection. Our meal came to around £25 altogether and we each had soup and three dishes (I think I have to master using chop sticks before I return!) It was a real treat and unfortunately I don't have one near where to I live! I would highly recommend going to one if you get the chance.
