York foot friendly
Advantages: Small Area and plenty of attractions Disadvantages: can be very crowded in summer
Getting around York is easy on foot and disabled people should find it easier than a few years ago, although they still acbnt get around the city walls. There is a bus service in York but you shouldn't need to use one unless staying outsideneed to use one unless your hotel is outwith the centrre or you are staying at the Youth Hostel.
Thers are lots of Snickleways (Alleys) that can be fun exploring and take you to new places that you haven't been ...

York- Short Break Musings
Advantages: Lots to do, good range of shops/eateries Disadvantages: Flat
...wife and I went to York for a 3 night break in January of 2008. We drove down from sunny jockoland and despite my efforts found the hotel eventually. (Being on a road to Leeds against our will happened a few times!). We stayed at the Holiday Inn near the Race course, (reviewed separately).
First Impressions
It seemed to be a nice place. However it was wet, really wet. We're Scottish and we thought it was wet! That is unlikely to always be the case.
... ...top. The view of York is okay, you can see the Minster between buildings and erm, that's about it really, a few churches and you can look down on the river and expensive car park. There is a small room that remains but it is mainly thick walls and a space age shop building that alters the ambience somewhat. You could choose to climb up the steps to the entrance and see some of the view before climbing back down, keeping your cash for the next car ...

York is a city that is impossible to hate
Advantages: Friendly, quirky, excellent bars and restaurants and attractions that will suit everyone. Disadvantages: Other people know this too and come in their hundreds
I was born near to York in a place called Harrogate and went to York for University, I now return as regularly as I can.
York is one of the few large cities in England that has retained it's prettiness whilst still being extremely friendly towards visitors. It does not sprawl far outside the city walls and provides something new on every visit.
Architecture

- In amongst other things, York has it's spectacular Minster wich is almost tucked away behind the main shopping areas and provide a pleasant respite to the shopping rush. The services are also regular at the Minster and it's adjoining churches
- Scattered across the city too are various styles of architecture from ...

Nothing compares to York
Advantages: Authentic, Loads to do, great pubs, small enough to walk round. Disadvantages: Gets quite busy, Hotels a little pricey and weather not the best
...and the missus go to York and stay over night, leaving the three kids at home.
We look forward to that mini break for most of the year as its 24 hours of a propper treat.
We get all the kids pressies bought at the local designer shops and also shop around the market. There are a lot of shops in York that you dont see anywhere else in the country, one offs, such as Hucstables where you can find great street where for the kids at the right price.
... ...scale.
When we go to york we always eat at night at the same restraunt called Willow. Its a chinese and its excellent and really cheap, i think its around the £7.00 per person to join the buffet and eat all you can eat, love it.
Walking round York at night is a great feeling looking at the sights such as the Minster with its spot lights lighting it up and the buskers on the street corners trying to make a quid or two. There is one thing that really ...
