York Hotels

Advantages: It is a clean and comfortable place to stay.
Disadvantages: I would not have liked to stay there for a week.

I stayed in the Novotel York for one night and during that time had an excellent stay. To start with the staff, specifically on reception, were wonderful and very helpful. Secondly the rooms were immaculate and the beds were comfy. When asked the hotel supplied me with an extra pillow very quickly. ...I didn't have dinner there so cannot comment on that. There was also a good sized car park. The hotel was a very good distance to all of the places that I wanted to visit, this was its selling point for me. Overall my stay was comfortable, the rooms and bathrooms were clean and breakfast was good. Disadvantages: Expensive mistake

We have never been so disappointed with a supposedly 'luxury' hotel. Despite booking a 'deluxe' room, the room was tiny, the bath was stained and suitable only for the short of limb, the 'castle' view was of the castle car park and the deluxe package of fruit, wine, dressing gowns was no where to be found. Disadvantages: Hidden hair dryer!

...spent 3 nights in this Holiday Inn in January 2008. It is on the outskirtds of York and easy to find/get to. The room was good and despite facing the main road there was no problem with noise, etc.. It was a good size, clean and tidy with a nice ensuite, tea/coffee facilities. The hair dryer for some reason hides in a drawer but once found was better than the astmatic ones you sometimes get! The breakfasts were good, (buffet style). Good choice ...
...to ample quantities! We did not eat any other meals there though they are avaliable. Parking is good with lots of spaces to the front, side and round the back. The staff were friendly and helpful. In the foyer there are lots of leaflets avaliable of local places of interest. The hotel is handy for the racecourse and the there are several regular buses into town on the main road. ...went there,i stayed at the blossoms hotel which was in the Clifton Area of York about a ten minute stroll from the City Centre. I booked a double room for two nights which was £45 per room per night which seemed like a bargain as everything else at that time was well over £60 prpn. The Hotel is approx : 15 minute walk from the train station 10 minute walk from York Minster 8 minute walk from the local tourist information centre 5 minute walk ...
...i called them up and they allowed us to check in earlier so this was a good start,as some places don't allow you to do this or even charge you £5 extra to do this which seems very unreasonable. Locating the place was easy as it is just a matter of walking up Bootham and it is on the main road, opposite a prestigious private school.
