A Night at Holiday Inn Advantages: Good Value, Clean & Good Food Disadvantages: Not enough Breakfast Tables ...i came across Express by Holiday Inn Malton Road York. The recently Built 49 Bedroomed hotel has handicapped Rooms, facilities for meetings and also banquet facilities. There are also non smoking rooms available. Twin, double, family and accessible roms are available in the hotel. It is based just two & a half miles from the city centre, where you can see all the local attractions York Dungeons, Jorvik Centre, Castle Museum, National Railway museumand ... ...away from the seaside towns of Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby. Shoppers are well catered for as there is the Monks Cross Shopping Centre a mile away but the city centre also has many shops to browse around. Included in the price of your room is an extensive continental breakfast, where you can either eat in the Great Room or take back to your room. Queens Hotel, Queens Staith, York, UK Advantages: City cenre, riiverside location. Close to ameneties and attractions Disadvantages: Potentially noisy nightlife just across the river ...wife and I stayed at the Queens Hotel on a Saturday night, in mid-May. The hotel is quite modern, having been converted from an old warehouse in recent years, and is only 4 storeys high. It is right in the heart of the city centre, within the city walls, and is on the riverside overlooking the River Ouse. It stands directly opposite the Kings Arms pub, which is famous for getting flooded after prolonged periods of heavy rain. The Queens Hotel stands ... ...water. As it is in the city centre there are loads of pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants, as well as 2 theatres, 2 cinemas, various museums, including the Jorvik Centre as well as the Minster etc. all within a few minutes stroll. I know my way around York quite well, however the hotel is located off well sign-posted streets and can easily by found by anyone new to the city. Minster Hotel Advantages: Very close to centre. Lovely staff and atmosphere Disadvantages: Can get quite expensive, some rooms are fairly small The Minster Hotel in York is situated on Bootham and is literally no more than a 5 minute walk down a staright road from the city centre. It is a friendly, welcoming place to stay. My boyfriend and I were looking to stay in another hotel in York, but as this particular weekend was a race weekend, many hotels were fully booked and in high demand. My sister in law recommended this one to me, and we were able to stay here for 3 nights earlier this year ... ...Although check in wasn\'t normally until 3pm, we were allocated our room atleast an hour and a half earlier than would of been allowed, which was great as we had arrived in York alot sooner than we expected. On arrival we were asked for our name, whether we wanted to order a morning paper, and for our car registration. The hotel has its own car park situated behind the building, which is private, and obviously for guests only. The Grange, good but it should be exellent ! Advantages: Good location, nice food , wi-fi service provided Disadvantages: Limited parking space, over priced ...I decided to try The Grange as it holds a very high reputation throughout York and is generally seen as a quality hotel. Anyway on to my stay at The grange, first impressions the building is situated within waking distance from the town centre which is handy but the building is not set back from the road so noise can become a problem in the front rooms as the road in which it is located (bootham) is a main road in York and is busy at most times.Next ... ...inadequate for a hotel of this size it has 40+ rooms with little room for more than 20 cars and also needs to allow space for people dining there but not staying in the rooms, this can get quite tricky as on our first visit our car had be moved twice in order for others to gain access. blossoms york not worth 1star last resort Advantages: close to city short walk Disadvantages: road noise - felt like a students house or worse ! broken toilet seat 4 year old boy nearly fell off extremely hot water from taps well in excess of 60 degrees c which are fitted incorrectly ie hot on right not left 4 year old boy only uses cold to wash his hands and knows cold on right fortunately he always tests it first, shower blocked 1" of water still there hours later which meant showering was limited to when tray was full get out at that point ! which was just about the length of time you ... ...dont stay in a front room traffic noise all night and i do mean all night no double glazing ! room not cleaned properly on making bed found used tissues!! tucked away very basic and im no critic only ever stayed in likes of travel lodges which in comparison wow!! only stayed because i paid upfront fell for that.
