We have never been so disappointed with a supposedly 'luxury' hotel. Despite booking a 'deluxe' room, the room was tiny, the bath was stained and suitable only for the short of limb, the 'castle' view was of the castle car park and the deluxe package of fruit, wine, dressing gowns was no where to be found. Advantages: Close to historic centre of York with great views of the Minster
Disadvantages: Limited car parking space

We had a very enjoyable stay here last April whislt I was expecting my baby daughter. The hotel was extremely friendly and the rooms were spacious and overlooking the Minster. Wednesday evening was a real treat - the bellringing practise night - wow, the sound of the bells was wonderful. Foodwise, the breakfasts were large and really set us up for the day. ...brought it all upstairs for us and we tucked into roast duck sat on the large kingsize bed!!! The situation is just right - close to the centre of the city but surprisingly quiet at night. ...a couple of nights in Novotel York Centre. I was very very impressed and want to share my experiences with you. FINDING IT The hotel is quite difficult to find and not very well sign posted, however is just off of Fewster way in the centre of York. It is just on the edge of the canal and also very close to the river. ...warning, if you visit the Novotel website you will see two different room pictures, one with blue cushions, one with orange cushions. The ones with the blue cushions are the standard rooms and the ones with orange are presumably premier rooms.
