A nice weekend away
Advantages: Comfortable and clean Disadvantages: Had to get wet to get to the room
...been before. The Hotel du Vin York is a new addition to the group, opening its doors in Autumn 2007 and has 44 bedrooms. I caught the train to York and the hotel was only a short walk from the station. It is situated just a short way from the race course so I am sure it is popular when the races are on.
On first impressions the building from the outside was really nice with a large driveway and massive entrance door. But inside it wasn’t clear which ... ...The bathroom was an average hotel bathroom with a bath and a ‘monsoon’ shower over the bath. It is called a monsoon shower as it has a really large shower head and is really powerful, so it feels like you are showering in a monsoon! The bath was also really nice and deep. There are a selection of toiletries that you can take away with you including shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. In the bathroom there is also a bathmat provided, which I think ...

great service great value!
Advantages: value for money, size of room, cleanliness Disadvantages: location ashame it wasn't a bit close to city
I stayed at the premier inn last month in a family room for just 65.00 for the night which I thought was an excellent price considering the size of the room. The room was very clean and above expectations. It is 3 miles from the city centre but very close to the park and ride just down the road which runs every ten minutes into the city centre we found this very usefull. The breakfast was all you can eat for 7.50 and if one adult had this the children ...

Linden Lodge Bed and Breakfast in York
Advantages: Great breakfast. Disadvantages: Very small bathroom for family room.
A pleasant Bed and Breakfast a short distance from the city centre. Family room on top floor not designed for tall people however! The staff were very accommodating and the breakfast was very nice and plentiful. I stayed in the family room on the top floor and apart from a badly positioned TV and the extremely small bathroom, the room was clean and tidy. The bed and breakfast is situated just outside the city centre but is only a 5 minute minute ...

Holmlea Guesthouse- an acceptable B&B in York
Advantages: reasonable price and free internet entrance. Disadvantages: no lock in bathroom and no shower in peak time.
...stay was a B&B named Holmlea Guesthouse.
Why we chose it?
Before we started our trip we searched on the internet trying to find reasonably priced accommodation that ideally was close to the tourist areas of York. Most B&Bs and hotels we found charged at least £60 for a double room per night. However Holmlea was an exception. On their own website they advertised £45 for a double room with private bathroom, but not en-suite. Personally I’m not used ... ...The breakfast
On Holmlea website they said they serve continental breakfast. Each morning at 8.30am a tray was left outside our door. On it were 2 small croissants, yoghurts and juices plus three jam portions (all bought from Tesco). After the experience of our first breakfast my husband would leave a little earlier to visit a local shop and buy extra food.
Checking out
When we checked out we were told they don’t accept any plastic card. So my ...

Stayed at the Ibis 4 Nights Commencing 1st Nov 2009
Advantages: Location- Close to center , It has Parking, Bar is nice Disadvantages: Service is terrible, No Bath, food takes ages and was sub-standard
I stayed in this "hotel" commencing the 1st Nov 2009, and this is what i thought:
Location
The location of the hotel is just outside the center of York, York is a really nice old city with a much history and lots to do as a torist
Parking The parking of the hotel is around the back of the hotel with only a tiny entrance, it is not signed so difficult to find if you not aware where it is. The amount of parking spaces was lacking to ... ...space no problem but i left for work and arrivved back at 9pm and there was only disabled parking spaces left. There were no realistic off street parking as this was for a max stay of one hour. Although the car park did have signs stating it had CCTV non was visable so dont think the had it.
The Checking In/Out The people at the check in seemed to have a poor attitude, they were not welcoming as you would expect from a hotel. I was there on ...
