It's 'Pigging' Good Fun!

Advantages: Lots to entertain the whole family
Disadvantages: It's very dependent on the weather

...fail to have fun at York Maze - there really is something for everyone, its fantastic value for money and there is a lot of fun to be had. The only thing left for me to tell you is the small print:

Location - Its ten minutes out of the city centre by car, on Elvington Lane. There's plenty of on-site parking.

Price - £7.95 for adults, £6.95 for children and £7.45 for OAPs. You can get a family ticket for £28 and a family ...
...Under 3s go free and groups of ten or more get a 50p per person discount. They accepted cash and cards.

Facilities - There's plenty of shops and eateries including an outdoor BBQ, ice cream shops and cafes as well as a gift shop, toilets and plenty of areas for picnics.

Opening times - Its open seven days a week from 10am until 6.30pm (last entry in 4.30pm) and it's open from 18th July until 6th September.

Better than the Lakeland Maze

Advantages: A fun few hours
Disadvantages: No shade in the heat

York Maze is based just outside York, it is a Maize Maze, it’s not open all year because the maize has to be fully gown to create the maize. == Opening Times == From July until Sept it is open 7 days a week 10am to 6pm ==Prices == £7.95 Adults £6.95, Children(Under 16) £7.45, OAP's £28.00, Family (2+2 or 1 adult +3 kids), Disabled go free (carers pay,) Under 3 free == My Thoughts == It was a hot day when we visited the York Maze and it was absolutely ...
...was no shade anywhere at all. There is a cafe, but it was impossible to keep an eye on the children properly from there. The main maze is large, but we actually preferred the smaller maze of illusion better, I think after 15 minutes of walking around just seeing maize the children found the bigger maze rather dull. Even though there are statues and talking sculptures in the maze, they were few and far between and not enough to hold my children’s ...

An a-mazing maize maze

Advantages: fun for all ages
Disadvantages: only available for 8 weeks a year

The York Maze is only available for approximately 8 weeks a year in the summer. York Maze is dependent upon the crop of maize which is grown to make the maze and is available until the crop is harvested. York Maze is situated just outside of the city of York and is easy to get to by car and clearly signposted. The car park was in a field with stone chips to mark out the route for cars and it huge. We went last weekend and were lucky with the weather. ...
...take off my trainers. York Maze is definitely designed with the family in mind. There were various play areas which catered for children of all ages and on the day we went there was also a beach bbq available but the queues for the food was frightening. Long tailbacks and you are better off taking your own as you could always walk back to your car for food before going back inside again. There was also a small farm but the animals looked rather ...

They do EVERYTHING bigger......

Advantages: Friendly staff, Ideal location
Disadvantages: Very large and very busy.

Having been dispatched in May of this year on a trip to New York. I found myself navigating planes, trains, subways, taxis, ferrys and just about every type of transport short of camel! I was firstly on a business trip so i was alone for most of my travels and with enough sence to know that hiring a car was not a possibility i was at the mercy of public transport for most of the time. I stayed at The Pennsylvania Hotel directly opposite Penn station and Maddison Square Gardens exit. This ment that unless i was taking a taxi all my transport was through this station. The first thing that struck me arriving in Penn station from Long Island was its size. It is much bigger than anything i had encountered before (beats London Underground hands down!) The building is a maze of interconnecting rail links servicing all ...

How to relax on holiday

Advantages: Compact, lovely atmosphere, relaxing, so much to see and do
Disadvantages: None whatsoever

Last summer my daughter was away in France on a school trip, my son was at University, so I treated my wife to a two night break in York – our first holiday without children for twenty years, and a fantastic break it was too. I love York, it’s a wonderful place for a short holiday, its such a compact and beautiful city oozing history with its three miles of walls encircling a maze of medieval streets and hidden alleyways – all with really fascinating stories. The four main entrances to the city centre are still dominated by the imposing great 'bars' or gates of Bootham, Micklegate, Monkgate and Walmgate, while the incredible York Minster a magnificent gothic cathedral which towers over the city as it has done for over 800 years contains England's greatest concentration of medieval stained glass. Its grandeur ...
