TRADITIONAL MARKET
Settle is at its most liveliest and colourful on Tuesdays, when the weekly market takes place attracting traders from far and wide - non-stop variety without charge. Adequate car parking space is available in the town's 3 car-parks situated within easy walking distance of the town centre. The market place is surrounded by local businesses - mostly family-owned, with some offering items for sale unique to the Settle area. The centre is dominated by the Shambles, a historic 3-storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall, built on the site of the toll-booth which was pulled down in 1820. In 1249 Henry de Percy obtained Settle's first Market Charter from King Henry III to hold a market each Tuesday. From this time Settle grew as a place for local commerce and trading and still now the market is held on tuesdays it seems. This was told for by th local people over there.

ANTIQUE SHOPS I found antiques shops in settle.Though its a small village, the market center and information center are in the historic buildings. It gives us the feeling of being in a historic village. The anitques and crafts seemed to be famous in settle. Those shops had wide and good variety of goods there. It was amazing to see some of the antiques piece. It would surly be a good treat for antique lovers.Settle itself boasting over 10 Antique shops or working Craft workshops

B and B's There are loads of B&B's which give good service with homemade and locally sourced food.Comparing the quality the cost is very little. I stayed in a B&B called " The oast Guest house".When we decided to go to settle , we browsed around and choosed a the above one.It was really fantastic. I usually dont like to stay in B&B's rather i prefer hotels. But this time by my husbands request i agreed. But it was very good and i hope in future i would always be better of with B&B's. The couple - Margaret and Tony were very welcoming. The specialty is margaret made delicious organic breakfast and dinner. In the cosy living, we chat in the evening. It really made me feel as home. The rooms and the bathroon were very clean and good.

Have you ever sat in an air-raid shelter, while bombs are dropping all around you? Or been in a U-Boat during a depthcharge attack? Or joined a Wellington crew over Berlin at the height of a bombing raid? I have experienced all of these in a single afternoon at a place called “Eden Camp” which is situated in Malton, North Yorkshire. It is a unique Museum where you will experience not only the sights and sounds, but also the smells of ... ...mannequins, and the skilful application of lighting, sound, and smells add even more realism and transport you back to the war years. Eden Camp was awarded the English Tourist Board Excellence Award 1998, for best visitor attraction in the Country.
The camp is an original prisoner of war camp built in 1942, and consists of 29 huts. Italians were imprisoned at the Camp from 1942 to 1944, then Germans from 1944 to1948. The original huts have been ...

...had a love affair with Yorkshire for as long as I can remember. I was influenced from an early age by things such as “James Herriot”, “Last of the Summer Wine” and more recently, “Heartbeat”.
My Grandparents had a love of scenery which they passed on to me. They loved Yorkshire and so in turn did I.
My first visit to Yorkshire was in November last year. It was love at first sight. I love the rolling dales, the misty moors, all of it. I stayed just ... ...right up to their famous Yorkshire Puddings which I highly recommend.
The Bee Lyn gift shop deserves a mention. For a start it is the only place in Hawes that sells towels! The owners were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. It has a great selection of gifts to suit everybody’s taste. It is situated further out of the main High Street near the post office and the Herriot Hotel.
Nearby, although I didn’t visit is Wensleydale creamery – makers ...

...most beautiful Villages in the Yorkshire dales, It has a traditional market on a Friday, a large green, 5 hotels and 3 pubs, and around 6 small shops. It is situated in upper Swaledale, not as well known as it's adjacent Valley, Wensleydale, but it probably has the less changed villages, with Reeth being the pick. There is lots to do in Reeth, there are many short and long walks around, and many more within a short car journey. The Swale river runs ... ...meet about 1/2 a mile from the village. This is excellent for Fishermen who fancy the challenge of catching out of the wild trout that are in the river (short term passes being available, and the river is stocked annually). The river is also a good place to swim, above Keld, a short drive up dale, has a water fall with a deep plunge pool which is a bit of a local secrete and this is great for swimming diving etc. There are a few golf courses which ...

...actually the largest of the Yorkshire Dales. Busy little Hawes with its cobbled main street,is one of its gems. Small it may be but Hawes has so much to interest the visitor. For
starters it is the highest market town in England at 850 feet
above sea level(asl) and is surrounded by some stunningly beautiful countryside. The town itself has some very pleasant stone buildings, houses ,antique shops, a ropemaker,a glass blower, a woodturner, the Wensleydale
... ...also the home of that crumbly, wonderful, cheese, Wensleydale. There is a Wensleydale Cheeses Visitor Centre which is well worth a visit. So too is the Dales Countryside Museum and the National Park Centre. Hawes has a flourishing livestock auction market on Tuesdays and
there is a indoor market on Tuesdays also. Just nearby are the
fantastic, cascading, Aysgarth Falls, which are among the best
waterfalls that I have ever seen. For such a small place ...

There are many parks and gardens to visit and the one I like the best is Fitzroy gardens, this is where Cook's Cottage is. This is an 18TH century building. This was originally built in Yorkshire, England then transported to Australia in 1933. This garden is ideally placed as it is close to Melbournes CBD. The gardens boundaries are Wellington Parade, Clarendon Street, Albert Street.
The ideal way to see all the other historic attractions as well as Cook's Cottage is to purchase a Melbourne Heritage Pass and this will enable you to visit the Old Melbourne Gaol and Como House as well. These passes can be obtained by visiting the Melbourne Visitor's Centre which is located at Federation Square.
There is plenty to see but these are only a handful of attractions to see and what I like about it is it does not cost ...
