    Disadvantages Disadvantages Parking, not really worth travelling to from outside Yorkshire

    Many times I've driven past the brown/white tourist road sign advertising the museum and it wasn't till last week that I actually went and had a look, weird for a petrol head with an obsession of cars. Located in the Alexander Mills complex in Batley the Skopos Motor Museum claims to hold 'some of the most magnificent and diverse pieces of motoring genius ever assembled'. Gotta be worth a look then? The Mills are on Bradford Road in Batley and the museum is signposted from most of the major A roads heading into Batley and the surrounding areas. A word of warning!     Yorkshire Motor Museum, probably the friendliest place on earth! "May I take pictures?", I asked, on entry. I would be sad if you didnt! he replied.. this set the tone for the morning (I could have spent longer there, but 'er indoors wanted to get on to Salt's mill in Saltaire - the Hockney place; we were driving there and I saw the signs... how could I not drive in???.) Jack didn't work there, just one of those hangers -on who delight in just being there (and who in turn make the place delightful), amongst and indeed working on the bits and bobs.     Spent a very enjoyable couple of hours here yesterday afternoon. the staff were putting the final touches to a 1908(i think) Pannard ready for MOT so it could be used in the London to Brighton run in November. This is such a friendly place to visit staff will listen to your questions and treat you as a equal not looking down their noses like some museum staff. The standard of the cars/bikes was exceptional and it is good to see the various stages of restoration. the museum is free so if you visit PLEASE make a donation as it is a charity and cannot survive without funding.
