...talking about, PAINTBALLING at the Yorkshire Paintball Centre near Selby in North Yorkshire.
This is about the 4th time I have been paintballing, and by far and away the best venue I have ever visited. Spread over an impressive acreage, this site has many different types of games to play, and also includes a "Predator" (more about that later).
For a full day split between paintballing and Quad Bike Racing the ... ...run out of these you have to buy more at £7.75 per 100 or £35.00 for 500. During our SIX games, I spent a total of £30.00 ish on further paintballs, and this seemed to be the norm - so for £65.00 I had a full day out and lunch was also provided.
Paintballing takes us back to playing cops 'n robbers, or cowboys 'n indians when we were kids, and it really does bring out the weekend warrior in us all.
Call me a child if you will - I don't care! This weekend I spent one of the most fun-filled days that I have had in a long time. Why? You may cry, well I'll tell you. This Saturday I spent the day shooting friends and strangers, not only did I love it but they also enjoyed it - what am I talking about, PAINTBALLING at the Yorkshire Paintball Centre near Selby in North Yorkshire.

This site is very impressive for its terrain, whereas a lot of paintballing sites just have a couple of fields and maybe a bit of woodland to play with, this site has marshland, bogs, woods, streams almost any type of ground you can throw yourself into and get dirty on. Stupendous fun.
DOES IT HURT? I'll not lie, it does sting a bit when you get "shot", and it will leave a little bruise, but the protetive camouflaged coveralls and your own clothes will protect. The face mask, which you should NEVER remove whilst in the field, will protect your face.
It was a fun day for a mixed group of men and women, all of whom enjoyed the experience.
The PREDATOR - this is a guy dressed up as the alien from the film of the same name. On an occasional game he will go out into the field, he is on nobodys side, and if he sees you, you have to stay completely still, as if he catches you moving he will unload his paintballs into you at a rate of 14 per second. It is truly a terrifying thing when you find yourself face to face with him.
Also included in the day was a 1.5 hour Quad Bike Racing session. Our group was divided up into 4 teams of five, and the race was over a 1/2 mile course, in a relay Stylee. Great Fun - you change riders after each lap so everyone gets many, many goes. Quad Bikes are great for throwing around corners, over hills and through ditches - smashing fun, but quite physically demanding.
What I liked about the whole day was the set up, by far the most comprehensive I have ever seen, and it catered for everyone no matter what size/sex or age.
Advantages: GREAT FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY Disadvantages: NONE
Softair is a way of having a paintballing experience, but with replica weapons. You can organize your own skirmishes, and have battle re-enactments. You choose your own weapon, and you can find a Softair version of it on the internet. Softair guns normally shoot 6mm Plastic Balls to distances of up to 30-40 metres in length. They do sting a bit when you are hit, but not as much as with paintballs. The power that is exerted cannot legally be over ...
