The1 litre Pyrex glass bowl that I have is guaranteed for ten years. I have had mine more than ten years now without any harm coming to it. No chips no cracks no pitted surface the glass still crystal clear.
This bowl is not a casserole dish just a simple round glass bowl , no lid

Advantages: Simpler, easier, cuts down on preparation / cooking time Disadvantages: Can be fiddly, not as rich / nice as the traditional dish
of chopped mint
1 teaspoon of grounded white pepper and allspice mix (or cinnamon and nutmeg)
Bechamel (White Sauce)
40g butter
2 tablespoons of flour
2 eggs lightly beaten
1/2 pint of milk (250ml)
100g grated cheese
PREPARATION
Vegetables
1. Wash the aubergines and cut them into 1cm slices. Ligthly salt them on both sides and place them in a colander on top of a bowl.
They'll release some water while you prepare the onions.
2. Take a large frying pan and saute the onions with the herbs / spices until brown on some olive oil then remove the onions from the pan.
3. Add a little olive oil to the pan and brown the aubergines on both sides. This will take about 10 - 15 minutes. Set aside.
Bechamel
4. Take a small frying pan and melt the butter. Gradually dissolve the flour into the butter while stirring it on a gentle heat for about 2 ...

,im sure that many of you will see her on the lunchtime show `Loose Women`.
OXO Gravy my way !
When I have cooked a joint of meat,I like to make good use of the very tasty fat that sits in the roasting pan.
So I make sure the fat is hot and then I add a couple of tablespoons of plain flour to the fat.Work it into a paste and then gently start to add the vegetable stock (which you have saved in a bowl from cooking the fresh vegetables ).
When the consistency is right for you,then add 2 or 3 OXO cubes and stir in,then season to taste,and if needs be add gravy browning.
The result is a good full flavoured gravy .
Just a quick run down of the ingredients contained in an OXO cube :wheatflour, salt, yeast extract, cornflour, colouring, flavour enhancers, beef fat, yeast, dried beef bone stock, sugar and onion pepper extract.
