...At last Railtrack have been held accountable for the joke of a rail service that we have had recently. Today sees the end of railtrack with debts of over 3 Billion pound. It now falls to politicians to find the money needed to pump into the struggling service. There is a long way to go to get the railways to a good standard. The trains themselves are falling apart and need replacing, and are laughable when compared to other European countries. The tracks and signals are a unsafe, as demonstrated in the train crash in Paddington, London which was a result of incompitancy. We are always being encouraged to use public transport, but at the moment it's a joke! I have been on trains where I have ended up at my destination a day late! I do not drive, and I can't wait to see an effecient and punctual service. Well I can dream can't I?... Read review

...London is a city with many attractions for the tourist so a fast mode of transport is needed for its visitors. Cars, taxis and buses move at the same speed as they had done during the Victorian era so the London Underground (or 'the tube') is used for quick and easy travelling from A to B. The London Underground runs as a metro system meaning that trains are not run to a timetable are very frequent. Within Central London the stations are very concentrated with very short walks from major sights, ideal for tourists. Advantages: Fast, Fairly Easy to Get Around
Disadvantages: Expensive, Could be Crowded, Unreliable

...that it was a fast way of transport and you can easily get from one place to another by changing lines. As I was going for an interview, I wanted to make sure that I was on time so I left well in advance not trusting the timing information given at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/ and ended up at my destination about half an hour early. Right after the interview, came another disappointment however! The tube station I had to use and the only one I knew was closed because of terrorist threats. I was not pleased as it was my first time in London and the feeling of being lost in such a huge city was not nice. On top of this I was now at risk of missing my train which made the feeling even worse. However, the staff was very helpful and explained to me exactly how to get back to Paddington and I managed to without any delays. After this occasion, I have used... Read review
