I used to think that JD Wetherspoons establishments were much of a muchness; a kind of beery Starbucks. I think they probably were at the start. I have discovered, however, that some imbibing Darwinian principle has been at work and many of them have evolved their own unique atmospheres and personalities despite the efforts of their executives to maintain a monotonous sameness.
