LAGANAS ZANTE- teenagers dream!

Advantages: up all night, fun party time!
Disadvantages: noisy!

I visited Laganas in Zante (Zaknythos) in July 2008. I had heard some pretty bad things about the town, as a boy was killed when bouncers threw him down some a steep staircase the week before I flew out. We flew with Thomas Cook which was, as always, pleasent as ever. Our group of 6 were 18 so obviously we wanted to have fun whilst in Zante. WHERE WE STAYED- We stayed in the Alexander Hotel (also known as Alexander the Great) around 10 minutes away ...
...Some of the restaurants around Laganas were excellent, we would barter between two restaurants outside out hotel and ended up with as much as 25% off our meals and free cocktails. Also interesting mixes of food such as an Italian/Chinese restaurant which catered for everybody in the group really. THINGS TO DO- We went on a Thomas Cook booze cruise, was a bit disappointed. Banana Beach, Laganas

Advantages: Calm and tranquil
Disadvantages: None

We have been going to Zakynthos for many years and always take a day to visit this part of the island. Its beautiful, but has got very busy in recent years. The beaches on this side of the island are very laid back and tranquil. We have always called it 'Our little taste of the Carribean'. You do need to watch out for oil though, coming from the nearby beaches and the watersports. Its not a lot, but can be annoying when you get a blob stuck on the ...
...time we went, as the sand had been puched up from the sean onto the beach which created a bit of a cliff edge when going for a swim. The calm sea is great for families but the sand gets very hot so beach shoes are a must. I would recommend anyone who hires a car to definitely check out this part of the island. ...

Great place for both couples and families, plenty to do.

Advantages: Great value for money, lots of things to do, beautiful island.
Disadvantages: Not much in the area, buses or a car is needed to travel to nearby towns.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Santy Maria in Tsilivi in September 2008 for a week. Weather: the weather was absolutely devine at this time of the year, temperatures high 30's reaching 40 degrees on some of the days, this unfortunately made it unbearable to stay out in the heat for too long although this was not a problem as there are some great bars and restaurants in the height of the heat. ...drinking: food has become increasingly expensive recently but this didn't appear to be too much of a problem for us. We were able to purchase good meals in nice restaurants for reasonable prices. A recommendation I would make is the Olive Garden in the centre of Tsilivi, a wide choice of meals for great prices, the staff are also very friendly. Laganas - Brilliant

Advantages: Relaxing during days & transforms at night to a party hotspot
Disadvantages: Depending on where you stay the nights could be noisy

...my partner recently went to Laganas in Zante, I have to say this is the best holiday I have ever been on, its a fantastic island with very friendly people. The holiday cost us about £400 for a B&B hotel for seven days (Direct Holidays) I think this was a absolute bargain. The town of Laganas is the main resort on the island, Its where all the youngsters head due to the crazy amount of bars & clubs, having said this during the day all the youngsters ...

Laganas resort, Zante

Advantages: Buzzing nightlife, decent beach, very little chance of boredom or isolation
Disadvantages: Commercial, soulless atmosphere where everything is aimed at English tourists
