Zante (Greece)

Where to start!

Zakynthos is a wonderful Island with so much to see and do if you are so inclined. My family of 9, my boyfriend and myself have only recently returned from a two week holiday and I want to b back there soo badly!

My family had bokoed our holiday over a year ago and were staying in alykes spread over two different complexes. My boyfriend booked a few months ago after we stared dating and managed to get a late deal in a place not far away from ours.

George and I wasted no time in renting a car for €50 for two days and looking round the island to see what it had to offer. We drove down to Keri Beach and sat on the beach eating ice cream, swam in the clear blue sea, had fun NOT tryin to get out of the sea walking over pebbles that were not exactly comfortable lol. all added to the fun of the day, we went to Zante town and spent money in jewelry stores, and drove through the mountains to see wonderful views.

even meals were a mix of with my family and on our own, towards the second half of the holiday they were mostly on our own, thats how we like it. The overall best place to eat in alykes was the Olympic. Owned by Italians, Air conditioned wonderful service and awsome food, followed by cocktails at Spikeys Sports Bar! They had so much energy and always had time to say hi, remebering my birthday and making a special cocktail. The staff Vince and Kay were awsome too and made every evening that we went there wonderful.

We rented quad bikes and toured the top of the islan, took a boat trip to the blue caves and the shipwreck, the wrek really is justy an old fishing boat covered in grafitti and we were crammmed onto an overbooked boat but we still had fun, spending the day with each other in the sun and swimming in the blue sea.

The Maria studios where George stayed were awsome! Theo, Billy and Alexi were very nice and alwasy so happy to see you. spent all my time there and even sang at karaoke!

The Clio started off wel, my sister was in there and my parents stayed there last year. this time they were miserable looking all the time and on the last day they were screaming at the men in my family because they were doing flips into the pool,. Not drunk and messing about but 4 adults having fun, then they were told off for trying to stand on airbeds in the water and finally my boyfriend was screammed at for using a child inflatable, the pool was full of inflatables that people had left behind, how did he know that one wasnt one of ours?? its not made of glass!! Anyway, they lost out on TEN repeat customers for that. all thjey needed were some manners and to ask us to stop what we were doing, no need to shout olike we were children,

I stayed at the Pothos with my neice, I wasnt really there very much becuase I was with George but they were lovely people, even kept letting me have the cleaners key for my room so that my neice and i didnt need to keep making sure we knew where each other was to get into the apartment lol

If you go to Zante please visit Spikeys Bar and let Kay know Sarah and George said hello and thank you for looking after George so well on his last day!!
also go to the Olympic and try their amazing Tzatziki and see the giant pepper grinder, makes everyone giggle!

Finaly whatever you do, DO NOT RENT ANYTHIGN FROM DENNIS next to Spikeys bar, he is locally known as Rent a Wrek and his stuff breaks down all tbe time, go to Alykanas or somewhere else in Alykes.
