Affordable luxury

Advantages: Situated in the heart of Burgos, superbly renovated, great value for money
Disadvantages: None that I could find!

When we visited northern Spain a couple of years ago, Burgos was right at the top of the list of places to visit. This beautifully preserved medieval town is a fascinating destination, and not just for the many pilgrims who visit the imposing cathedral on their way to Santiago de Compostela along the Way of St. James (wandering around the old town, you will notice many of the scallop symbols set into the pavement or into the walls of houses to guide the faithful along the right path). Our stay at the Abba Burgos hotel was without doubt a highlight of the three days we spent in Burgos - it's not often that I would say that about a hotel but this one really was excellent. I had booked on the internet without knowing anything much about the hotel - in fact, Abba Hoteles run a number of establishments across Spain and have also opened one ...

A great monument

Advantages: Nice
Disadvantages: Anyone

and to have a control of the goods that were taken into the city. There were some gates at this wall. The king Philip the Third married to the Princess Margarita from Austria, thus he decided to build a monumental gate to commemorate the marriage. It was called "Puerta de Alcalá" (Alcalá´s Gate), due to it had been built in the road that finished in Alcalá de Henares, nowadays declared World Heritage City by UNESCO. As Carlos the Third, also known as "the best Major of Madrid" did not like the design, he ordered to demolish the gate, and another gate, bigger and nicer was built following the planes of Francesco Sabatini, the favourite architect of the King. This gate that has become a symbol of Madrid was finished in 1778. This gate joins culture and history. May be when you are in front of the gate you think "oh, these Spanish people are ...

Delonghi EC330S

Advantages: Takes Pods as well as Ground Coffee, has removable water tank, great value for money
Disadvantages: Won't take a mug, takes a while to warm up, pods not easy to come by

The Delonghi EC330S is very stylish and would look good in any kitchen. I found the best thing about this machine is that it takes pods as well as ground coffee, and the water tank is removable so no need to take a jug to the tank to fill it up. The cup warmer is a pleasant addition. I am however disappointed that it won't take a mug, so a large cup is ideal if you want a cappuccino. Also it does takes a while for the machine to warm up, and the pods aren't that easy to come by in the shops, so stock up when you find them or buy them online. Overall this is a great mahcine for people who don't want to spend a fortune, or for the begginers as it is very easy to use. 9/10 ...
