Being a long time Nottingham resident I have visited Zizzi's many times - occasion meals, a quick lunch with friends, on a date etc and feel suitably equipped to review it.

Atmosphere
So let's start with the atmosphere - you walk into the restaurant and immediately it is quite dark. Middle of the day, 8 at night - same level of light. It's slightly disorienting in the daytime but on the whole it's atmospheric and cosy. You then are potentially faced with an empty room full of tables... this is because when the restaurant is busy every gets seated downstairs which often means no one is there you greet you at the door and you spend a confused minute working out what you do originally. Having found your way down to where all the action is - the ground floor. It's cosy and quite romantic with the low lighting and tea lights but it is also very very cramped. The owners have stashed way too many tables in here and you will spend a great portion of your meal backing into people or moving yours bags away from their table and struggling to make your way through to the rest rooms (which are upstairs by the way!). You do get used to it though and I find it quite cosy and it can be quite a nice romantic setting in the evening if it's not too busy. Even better if you get a booth - which i've yet to do. :(
Food
I can't say i've had a bad meal here. Pizza, Pasta, Salad it has all been delicious. Zizzi also has lots of vegetarian options although they aren't clearly marked on the menu so I occasionally have to ask just to make sure! But my meat eating friends have always been impressed with the selection too - although often the veggie options are so tempting they go with them! My current favourite is the Ravioli Di Capra - gorgeous huge portions of Ravioli stuffed with goats cheese, spinach and tomato with rocket pesto, pine nuts and tomato sauce.

Value for Money
Most of the time there is a 2 for 1 offer or such making the rounds which makes eating at Zizzi's very affordable. But even when you don't have one of these it is quite good value with main meals costing around £7 - £9. Drinks are quite expensive though and I rarely drink wine when i'm there. A small glass of Zinfandel Rose is £4.65, large £5.95. The cheapest bottle of wine is £12.95.
Overall
Overall I like eating at Zizzi's as the food is delicious and the atmosphere quite cosy.
Advantages: Great food, friendly staff, stylish, reasonably priced Disadvantages: Noisy, desserts could be better
I found out about Zizzi from friends when looking for a restaurant for a first date. It was highly recommended by everyone I talked to for its nice atmosphere and excellent food.
Walking into the restaurant we were pleasantly greeted and immediately shown downstairs to a clean and neatly laid table. The restaurant floor is below ground with side stairs leading up to the street entrance. This makes the ceiling higher and increases your sense of space, ... ...course and coffee.
Overall Zizzi is an excellent place to eat. It's reasonably priced, stylish, serves delicious food and has a great atmosphere. The noise meant it wasn't the most romantic meal ever, but I suppose the fact that it was so busy just shows how popular it is. ...

Advantages: Nice and central Disadvantages: Think they've changed hands or the chef!
Well, I absolutely adore this place. We go all the time! The food is amazing, really tasty, you always know you're going to get a good meal. And it's really good value, approximately £7.95 for a pasta dish, the same for a pizza. For a starter you're looking at about £4.95, and when you leave you feel full and not ripped off. The service is fabulous, friendly but not in your face and we love the buzzy, if slightly loud at times, atmosphere! The restaurant ... ...can see the big pizza oven is great.....
that is until a few weeks ago.....
I don't know what's happened?
We went with a couple of friends for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and was sorely disappointed! The service was still good but the food was terrible. I ordered what I would normally, the spaghetti al pomodoro, (spaghetti and tomato sauce), and the pasta wasn't cooked! I was then told that it should be like that and I disagreed and they got ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Zizzi (Nottingham)"
After a weekend spent decorating it was a welcome relief to go out for a decent meal on Monday night, so me and a couple of mates went to the Italian restaurant Zizzi, located in the centre of St Albans.
I'd never been to this particular restaurant before, although a few weeks ago I did go to Zizzi in Nottingham, which was just as good.
Zizzi is a pretty big place and actually feels like a huge conservatory thanks to the big windows. The interior is nicely decked out with a wooden flooring, and there's a ramp for disabled access. I suppose the central gimmick of Zizzi is that the kitchen area is clearly visible from the dining area - it's actually an integral part of the restaurant, so even before the food is served you can smell the pizzas being cooked from the huge ovens.
To be honest I did get a little worse for wear during ...
Brass Monkey, Indigo, Dogma, or Living Room.
There are a huge number of restaurants within Nottingham, from your usual suspects (Bella Pasta, Nandos, Pizza Hut, Zizzi etc) to the more unusual place, such as the magnificent Loch Fyne fish restaurant, the delicious Hansons Chinese, or the spicy Mogal-e-azam.
My personal favourite pub is Ye Olde Trip, reputedly the oldest pub in the world. Not just my favourite because of its cheap, good quality beer and food (including a large array of real ales) but becuase of it's traditional bar games (horn and ring for example) and it's miscellaneous ghost stories, included the cursed galleon, said to kill any that dare to clean it.
A restaurant I would recommend to those who can afford it is the World Service restaurant, Newdigate House, Castle Gate, Nottingham (0115 847 5587)
