There seems to be a Zizzi in every self-respecting town these days. It isn't hard to see why they're popular with all age groups and usually very busy. There is a good range of starters, pizzas, pastas, salads and desserts, and a specials card that changes every few weeks. There are a number of vegetarian options. It is very easy to adapt meals to your own requirements, for example by swapping one ingredient for another, which won't cost you, or you can add an extra ingredient for an amount in the region of 80p depending on what the ingredient is. You can even change the type of pasta, for example by having a bolognese with fusilli instead of spaghetti. The food and drink is reasonably priced. Even the mineral water is Italian. One criticism would be that if you want a beer you only have a choice of peroni or peroni gran reserva. Juices are limited to orange, apple or tomato. There is quite a good range of spirits though, which people don't seem to realise, although there is a spirits and licqueurs menu available. You can also have a liqueur coffee. One of the best things about Zizzi is the standard of service. Every month they send in a mystery diner to check standards are up to scratch. This includes ensuring that things are done promptly so you won't sit there for ages waiting. If you have a problem with your food or drink they will happily do their best to put things to your satisfaction. What more can you ask for? They don't even mind if you want to take in your own birthday cake and have them bring it out with candles. On the down side, the tables tend to be packed quite close together and as the restaurant is family-friendly this might mean you have young kids bawling and throwing spaghetti at you or running around getting under people's feet. If you have young children, there are high chairs available. The restaurant tends to get very busy in the evenings but you can book, except if you are a small group wanting a table on a friday or saturday night, in which case it is first come, first served. If you have a party you might want to look at the party menu which is a set menu. In conclusion, a meal out at Zizzi is generally a safe bet.
