There was a good choice of food, including traditional greek dishes such as Moussaka and a wide range of fish dishes as well as some of the old favourites such as pizza and pasta. ...triangles stuffed with cheese (starter) and the moussaka which are all excellent.
The price of an average meal is around £20-£25 (including wine, which can be bought by the litre).

Highlights on the menu are the Kalimari salsa, filo triangles stuffed with cheese (starter) and the moussaka which are all excellent. As you would expect, there is plenty of choice for good eating in Liverpool but I would particularly recommend the Lower Place on Hope Street which is in the basement of the Philharmonic Hall and is popular with the pre and post-performance crowd for the Philharmonic Hall and the Everyman Theatre, Zorba's - a family run Greekrestaurant on Lecce Street just off Mount Pleasant and the fantastic Carribbean place at the bottom of Parr Street - by day it's more of a cafe but serves delicious West Indian food in the evenings.
The city centre is easily covered on foot but public transport is good if you're going further out of town.

influence is more obvious. It starts from the fresh food and also applies to the cakes, like Baklava and Milfay, which are very sweet, covered in Syrup and have their roots in Turkey.
But it's not just in the fresh food. The laid-back lifestyle, which is so typical for the Greeks becomes more pronounced here compared to Athens where everyone is always in a hurry. The night scene and the bars and clubs are exceptional, they play great music and I can promise you you will not come across anyone dancing Sirtaki as seen in Zorbas with Antony McQuinn.
The restaurants, which you will know cater for a lot of tastes but as Greeks love their meet it is not too easy to find a vegetarian restaurant. I guess you can always opt for a Greek Salad, just say, choriatiki! Which means, a village salad. Delicious!
