Triathlon
Review of Ironman Switzerland-Triathlon - August by real_rob_writer

Advantages: Fun
Disadvantages: Not many

There wasn't a category for Triathlon as such, so hopefully here will do. Triathlon isn't one of the most popular sports in exsitence, but it is becoming more and more popular and is a well established Olympic Sport. Triathlon, as the name suggests, consists of three sports which are swimming, cycling and running. Each racer must compete each discipline whilst trying to be faster than their competitors. The first leg of the triathlon consists of ...
...long distance when you consider how far people run in races, but I can imagine having to swim that far would be pretty difficult!! The swim normally takes place in a natural river, which adds to the difficulty. Luckily the competitors wear wetsuits so they aren't going to freeze to death!! It takes the runners around 20 minutes to do the swim, but obviously depends upon the conditions. Once you're out the water it's a mad dash to run to your bike, ... Read review

Not a gnome in sight
Review of Zurich (ZRH) by Morgenhund

Advantages: close to centre, clean, well signed
Disadvantages: currently undergoing building work - thus some walkways are not working.

...landing here. I flew through Zurich twice in the last week, arriving first time round at 11am and then the second time round at 7pm. On both occasions I found that the airport was very clean, which was no surprise, since the Swiss are renowned for their tidiness. The airport is currently undergoing major expansion, which did mean that moving walkways were not working (they were still being finished) and so you had to go by foot between one terminal ...
...hardship and the airport was very well signed, with signs in English. As a non EU state, Switzerland still has the Tax and Duty Free shopping facilities that are not open to people within the EU. The shops are clean, although of course being in Switzerland there are no Euro pricings unlike other airports. There are a range of coffee shops and cafés to get a quick bite to eat. Not being there for very long (connections usually in around 1 hour) I ... Read review

Dropped from Heaven
Review of Lake Zurich by tommartin

Advantages: One of the most beautiful countries in the world, very diverse, very high standards, brilliant services all round
Disadvantages: The prices! No really, the prices! Some of the people can be very insular.

...See (Lake Zurich). Ahhh, Lake Zurich - a most beautiful stretch of water spanning over 40 miles long, but less than a mile wide, this lake starts in Zurich, in Northern Switzerland and stretches almost a third of the length of the country finally coming to a cut off point in a beautiful town called Rappiswil. On either side of the lake there are mountains which overlook you, most of which have cable cars so you can visit the top and see the fabulous ...
...find that the accomodation around Lake Zurich is endless in choice and all are clean and friendly. Every little village and town along either side of Lake Zurich has it's own charm and own set of hotels to offer. During the summer season you will find that the prices esculate dramatically, unless you are extremly wealthy ith is just not worth doing, obviously if you can find a reasonable package tour you won't have to worry about such things! The ... Read review

Room for improvement
Review of Swiss National Museum, Zurich by JVL

Advantages: Interesting exhibits, some of them very well presented
Disadvantages: Route through the museum can be confusing, and there is a chronic lack of space

...paying a visit to the Swiss National Museum, and it was well worth the 5CHF entrance fee. Situated right in the centre of the city, two minutes’ walk from the train station, you can’t miss the huge mock medieval castle (which only dates from the 19th century), and the building is full to bursting with artefacts and information about the history of the Swiss confederation. So full, in fact, that an extension is to be built in the next ...
...learn about the impact of Swiss scientists on the ideas of the Enlightenment, the role of the Swiss cantons in the Reformation, the fate of Swiss military mercenaries in the French Revolution, and so on. There are many stories to be told, and it is interesting to read and see the reasons and history behind the formation of the federal state that is now renowned the world over for democracy and neutrality. There is also an excellent collection of ... Read review
