Peace and quiet in central Zurich Advantages: Location, breakfast, comfort, cleanliness Disadvantages: Small; a little pricey Helmhaus Swiss Q Hotel is one of the hotels in Zurich offered by Expedia in their flight plus hotel deals, and this is how we discovered it. Whilst not the cheapest option, its central location meant we could save both time and money travelling to and from the city. What's more, breakfast is included in the price. Mad about Moo. Advantages: Nice location/decent price Disadvantages: You could go cow mad ...across the road from the hotel is a streetcar stop (Haldenegg) and you can catch Trams 6, 7, 10, or 15. Its just off the centre section of Zurich, but close enough that its still central, close to the main shopping street and the bar area. There are very good directions to the hotel on their website which offer directions for those arriving by car, tram or train. Its hard to miss the hotel once you are in eyesight, there is a big sign written on ... ...you are in a tourist hotel in Switzerland, the reception desk is decorated in cow spots (black and white) and for your breakfast tokens (breakfast is an additional 16 CHF) you are given little plastic black and white cows to hand over to your wait person. The keyring for your room? A giant wooden cow. Suitable for gnomes Advantages: Modern, centrally located Disadvantages: Just outside of city centre The Zurich Marriott is a 19 storey hotel overlooking the centre of the city, 300 yards from the station, 20 minutes by taxi from the airport. My wife and I stayed for three nights with friends and had a really enjoyable time. The hotel is modern with 3 restaurants - American diner, traditional Swiss and an authentic Thai - we ate in the Swiss restaurant on one night and had a magnificent meal which was great value for money (400 swiss francs including ... ...bath. The bed was a Marriott King - 6ft across so plenty of space. A flat bed TV with 36 channels - 10 in English, a minibar and safe - all standard features. Breakfasts were good if just a little American - Chef on duty to make omelettes but great choice nevertheless. Staff could not have been more helpful and by the end of our stay were on first name terms. Best Western Hotel, Zurich: a decent hotel Advantages: specious and bright room, modern decor, nicely furnished Disadvantages: bathroom is too small We stayed in this hotel for two nights on our weekend trip to Zurich. This is a decent hotel. Our double bed room was specious and bright and was decorated in modern contemporary style. The neutral décor and dark wooden floor made the room look very stylish. Apart from the specious double bed, the room was furnished with sofa, glass top table, big wardrobe and safe deposit box. The hotel is in main road and the tram stop is just opposite the hotel. ... ...from the airport to the central station. We finally reached the hotel by tram from the central station. The train and trams are very frequent and the journeys are short and hence reaching the hotel from the airport is easy and hassle free. The main disadvantage with the room was the bathroom. "Design" Hotel Greulich, Zurich Advantages: Style, Rooms, Staff Disadvantages: Not in the nicest part of town The Hotel: Hotel Greulich is a "Design Hotel" located close to the centre of Zurich (Switzerland) and is named after Herman Greulich, a Polish social reformer who emigrated to Switzerland and founded the first Socialist Party of Switzerland (the hotel is situated on the corner of Herman-Greulich Strasse). On arrival, my wife and I were a bit disappointed with the building from the outside.
