Advantages nothing

Disadvantages poor communicatio, dirty, selfish policies

I have recently rented a car from Goldcar through Argus Website. The rental was from Bologna airport for 9 days from the 15th to the 24th of June 2012. At the airport I was attended to by a clerk that either doesn’t speak any English or was not in the mood for talking on that day! Either way I was not given any sort of explanation regarding the full-empty policy the company has. I have rented several cars from several companies and I have never been imposed by such a policy which in my opinion I do not like, but that is my opinion. However, what I am very displeased of is the fact that the clerk present at bologna airport didn’t even mention such an important policy! I know that this policy is written in the receipt but I do expect that such a policy is pointed out by the clerk at the point of rental given that it is not a common one. Unfortunately, due to this lack of communication I failed to get to know about the policy and returned the car with a half full tank of petrol. It was at this point when the clerk at the point of car return (who spoke English much more fluently) explained this policy which was obviously too late.
I do have other complaints. First of all, unlike the other cars that I rented from other companies, the car I rented from Goldcar was clean from the inside but dirty on the outside! It had dust all around, dirt all over the mudguards and mosquitoes splattered all over the bonnet and wind-screen. However, since it was going to become like that again in a few days and we were in a hurry we did not turn back to complain. Secondly, we were never notified about the 1000€ deposit that they had to block off from our VISA just for insurance purposes. I was lucky that I had a specific VISA card as if I had the normal VISA I wouldn’t have been able to leave this deposit. If I had been notified about this policy before I would have prepared for it.
To add to this I complained several times to both Argus and Goldcar and didn’t even get a reply back. So much for after sales service!
