We are using this company for the 3rd time in three years. Why? Because they are:
- Organised - Good Value
The term "organised" says the most about them, of course money is important, but not to the detriment of the standard of your holiday. Anybody reading this who has been on a ThomsonSquare Deals Package will know exactly to what I refer!
Organised: The first and the most important point is that you are dealing directly with the Holiday Tour Company, not a 3rd party Holiday Shop trying to sell you any Tour Companies holidays. In essence you have by-passed the middle man and his cut of the deal!
You can book your holiday in 3 ways:
-- In person at the shop. ---- By Telephone. ----- On the Web at www.directholidays.co.uk
In person: Personally I have never done this; It is the "old fashioned" way. However with the telephone and web service you need never visit a shop.
By Telephone: I have done this 3 times, oh then how can I comment on the Web Booking Service, well I can't but I can supply information regarding the other Web services that I have used and let one of you guys opinionate on the web booking procedure in due course!
Click on the "Personal Travel Assistant - "Holiday Quick find". Complete as many fields as required and hit the search button - and "Roberts your Uncle" take your pick, each resort is detailed as is all the apartments and hotels, there are weather and entertainment links also.
You decide then pick up the phone. The Phone service is very good, you get all the info you need, they are very friendly and if you forget something you can call them back, like ordering a babies cot, or upgrading to a 2 bedroom apartment, Things that we have done in the past.
Once you have booked and paid your £25 deposit per adult by Switch or Visa etc. Go back to the web site, place your mouse pointer over the "Holiday" button, select your brochure, Summer Sun, Winter Sun, then select whether you are travelling as a couple, family, group or alone. The Holiday Search Map will open, click anywhere on the world map and a list of locations appears. You will note that choice is not extensive and is limited to Stateside and common European destinations. Select you holiday location read up and sigh contented that you have just painlessly booked your Summer Hols. Booking confirmation is normally with you in a week.
The web page is pretty compact and in that slow to download, but patience is a virtue and if you wait it will be worth it. Take a virtual tour if you are lucky enough to take a tour of your Apartments/Hotel well it is a bit better than the 2 posed photos that you get! There is a lot of info there: Flights, Foreign exchange, you can order your dosh online. Probably best go to a bank though! So go surf.
We have been to Menorca twice with Direct Holidays and we are going again this year, roll on summer - whoops there I go again wishing my life away! Check out free Children Places, our two are going for "nowt" this year, the savings £60 per adult and a fortune on the kids.
The reps on the two resorts we have visited have been excellent and very knowledgeable, of course I suspect that we have been lucky, but maybe not.

We used DirectHolidays this year - the first time we took the kids abroad. I have to say the service was really goodand any time I phoned, they were really helpful. cost wise, they were a good £600 - £700 cheaper than other places we had contacted. I will definitely be getting a brochre for next years holiday.

I've only ever been once on a Thomson Square Deal(about 7 years ago) but we had a great accomodation selected for us. Having seen some of the options these days though I tend to agree with your comments!

I am about to book a summer holiday and hadn't thought of direct holidays - I will look them up now. Sounds much more straightforward than the high street travel agent mallarky!
