I've been using the Greenline (now Easybus service) for four years now, ever since I started flying back and forth from London with Easyjet. Easyjet is possibly the cheapest airline available for many destinations but what is not always so "Easy" is the getting to and from London Luton airport, its base - you cannot just hop on the tube as you do when travelling to Heathrow.

I am not aware of other buses that go to Luton - at the time, I hadn't the energy to do my research - so luckily the option of Easybus/Greenline with its Easyjet discount was readily available, with plenty of information on their website.

The bus route I always take goes from London Victoria station to London Luton airport and, of course, in the other direction. Its bus stand at Victoria is hard to miss, and is situated a short walk from Victoria Underground and train station, and very close to Victoria Coach station, so transport to the bus stop to begin with is usually no problem. The stand is hard to miss and there are always buses ready to leave - they normally depart every 20 minutes so each time I have arrived at the bus stand I've always been able to load my luggage onto a bus right away, board, and wait to set off. During the route, the bus makes other stops if necessary (the driver will normally shout as he approaches one and wait for a response from a passenger) such as Baker Street, Finchley Road and Hyde Park Corner. Once again, this makes it easier to get to an Easybus stop as you can set off for whichever is nearest to your area.

The driver will load your luggage onto the bus for you in designated sections labelled with the different stops, and offload everyone's luggage at the final destination swiftly (in my experience). It is essentially hassle free and since these buses are so frequent, one can always find a seat. Lots of time I have ridden it, the bus has been practically deserted.

Booking and payment is easy through the website, which also includes a detailed timetable, and it is as simple as printing out your booking confirmation which will be exchanged for your ticket by the driver. Those who use the service to catch an Easyjet flight get a discount, which makes for a £12 Greenline adult return. If you do not book beforehand there is no problem whatsoever - anyone can board the bus and pay the driver, getting the discount by showing their Easyjet boarding passes/flight confirmations. A return journey may be made up to 3 months after your first journey, so going back home to Europe for the summer and back to London, I only had to use one ticket.

The only unreliable aspect of the service is something that is not the fault of the company - it is traffic. Often there are roadworks leading to Luton which in the worst cases can add an hour to your journey and can stress out any passenger who has a flight to catch! This is easily remedied by leaving with ample time til your flight (although there are times I have gotten to Luton much too early for check-in and had to bide my time in the very minimalist entry hall).

All in all, I have used the service a countless number of times and have been extremely satisfied - not only with its affordable price (though they recently increased it to £12 from £10.50) but its general comfort and accessibility. Still, it is a bus that is subject to the usual London traffic so when using it one should certainly keep an eye on time.
