DESIGN
Easy Everything is orange. Just orange. It can be a bit hurtful for your eyes but at least it's a real eyecatcher so that you are able to see the building even from quite a great distance. Ok, I might be not too neutral because orange is my favorite colour. *g* Inside the whole style is quite relaxed and straight. Friendly wooden desks, wooden floor, wooden chairs (too bad that they are quite uncomfortable), white walls, white mice and orange mouse pads. All in all it's friendly and welcoming but maybe a bit anonyme.
LOCATION
IN the middle of the Ku-Damm, Berlin's number one shopping street! PERFECT! Just a few steps from "ZOO"-station and close to other undergraound and bus stops.
THEIR OFFER
On two floors and howmany squarefeet there are 350 PCs waiting for you to use them. These workstations include a chair, a flat screen, a keyboard, a mouse, a webcam and a phone. It's all high quality material but the cafe openes just a few months ago. We'll see whether they'll update their equipment. Too bad that the space for each workstation is very limited. You sit quite close to the screen which is fixed on a wooden wall.
To use the internet costs 2DM. But you get something different for the same money: from 20 minutes up to 5 hours - everything is possible according to how many people want to use the internet. (At night it is really cheap and you can surf the web for 5 hours but usually during daytime especially afternoon you won't be able to stay online for longer than 30 minutes for those 2 DM.
Additional service costs additional money: To use the Mikrosoft Office2000- or Mikrosoft WorksSuite2001-Programme or ENCARTA Encyclopedia Deluxe 2001 you have to pay 3 DM (for each). If you want to use the webcam you have to pay 2DM. You even can make phone calls over via the internet but first you have to buy a special phone card for 20DM. To be honest: I haven't tried out those features yet but if I do I will write an update. Of course, you can buy coffe, soft drinks and snacks, too, that are quite cheap. (you even can order them via your workstation!)
You even can print or download everything you want: Prints black and white are 0,50DM per page, in colour 1DM. Cost for a download are 2 DM plus the medium you want to save your files on: 1DM for disks, 5DM for CD-ROMs. Additionally it is possible to scan your own pictures. Therefor you have to pay 2DM per page.
THE CAFE IS OPEN 24/7!!!
COMFORT
The distance between your head and the screen is way to small which you can feel after a while because your eyes might hurt. The wooden chairs are less comfortable, too. Due to the fact that you can't change the position of neither the chairs nor the screen longer sessions might be painful for your back - especially when you're quite tall. Everything is easy to understand and you even get a little help broshure... and if there is still a problem, don't hesitate to ask one of the very competent
SERVICE
All assistants are very friendly and help whenever you have a problem. They answer every oh so stupid question and there are enough of them so you can find someone when you need help.
MY (first) CONCLUSION
easyEverything is the McDonalds between the internetcafes. It's not really comfortable and not meant for easygoing web-marathons. But it is very cheap and therefor it's ok when it's not all first class. Due to their prices and the good location they will have enough customers.
