As a frequent flyer i am constantly looking for bargain flights to my favourite destinations.
This time i chose Fly.BE - for the first time. Last week i flew from Glasgow to Salzburg return. I was told that this flight would stop in Birmingham for approx. 3 hours, which was fine with me. My main reason for chosing this airline was, that i didn't have to check in again for the second flight. Me being pregnant and flying alone, i thought it would make my journey easier, and it did.
The flight cost me approx. £200 pounds return incl. taxes, which is still cheaper than most of the other flights offered to Austria. I booked it over the internet which was swift and convenient.
One negative point regarding the price: A week after booking the flight i had to call the customer service centre to change my return date and therefore i was charged an additional £115, which was too pricey for my taste.
So off i went to the airport in Glasgow. Picking up my ticket plus my ticket for the onward journey was no hassle at all. But unfortunately the small propeller plane was 1 hour delayed, we were told "due to a technical fault". After arriving in Birmingham i was unsure what gate i had to go to, as it was not marked on the ticket. Gates are being displayed on monitors in the lounge, literally 1-2 minutes before boarding. We got picked up by an airport bus which took us to the jet. The jet was fitted with leather seats and provided more leg room and locker space for hand luggage, which was convenient.
The crew was helpful and friendly at all times.
Slightly overpriced snacks, sandwiches, drinks and gifts were available for purchase on both flights.
Luggage also arrived on time without problems.
Disabled passengers are advised to contact fly.be's customer service 48 hours before departure for special arrangements which are free of charge if you are registered.
For infants and children please check the web site. It explains costs and also provides helpful hints and tips for the journey ahead.
Passengers travelling during pregnancy are also adviced to check with the airline beforehand.
(I was 31 weeks pregnant at the time, and although i had a letter signed by my doctor i wasn't once asked for it and had no problems at all!)

Advantages: Actually fly at sensible times from regional airports, loads of legroom Disadvantages: The use of small planes mean you feel every bump and twist; much of FlyBE's fleet are turbo-props
