When you live in a relatively isolated part of the UK, you have to take what you've got when it comes to travel options and this is very much the case with low cost airline carriers.
We have 4 leaving the province to various parts of the UK and Europe and the choices are:
1) Easyjet (or should I say hard luck jet) I will NEVER fly with them again after getting stranded in Bristol last year throught their fault re minimum check in times, this company thrives on annoying their customers and I will not give them any more of my hard earned money thank-you!
2) Jet2. Limited destinations and woeful PR. Why would you subject yourself to their awful dreadful customer care?
3) BMI baby. It is OK but has such a limited range of destinations from Belfast.
Of the 4 carriers available from NI this has to be the best because of their decent PR machinery, very good array of destinations and decent prices not to mention their excellent staff and simple booking system. There are many reasons that this is my preferred carrier and only several problems apparent to me.
Firstly George Best Airport in Belfast (their base in NI) is only suited to east Belfast residents as the access from elsewhere in the province is diabolical. Furthermore parking charges at this airport are criminally high and there is no option for prebooking car parking to offset those charges a little, the car park courtesy bus is non existent and you will inevitably get soaked running from the car park to the terminal with your luggage!
Secondly, their "clear" policy on luggage allowances means that there is always a surcharge if you put ANY luggage at all into the hold, this is not fair in this day and age and is in my opinion sharp practice at best!
But the destination list is fabulous, we would never have "discovered" Devon if it were not for the Belfast - Exeter route and it is a joy to land in the English riviera after a relaxing 50 minute flight, pick up your car at Exeter airpoty (really manageable small regional airport) and drive off to your luxury hotel relaxed and care free!
Flybe.com website is simple to navigate and if you have a little notice of your trip fares are incredible, dont leave it to the last week however as there is that "compulsory" inflationary price hike the closer you get to your departure date from your booking date!
They have a good inflight magazine (free) although the snacks are pricey, and a variety of business partners offering discounts such as hotels and car hire (avis), although we found Hertz cheaper even after the discount.
As a budget airline, theis is the best that I have travelled with and is a reasonable attempt at good service given the deficiencies of the alternatives! Please consider not charging extra for luggage and give George Best airport the ditch for Belfast International which is a far superior airport in my opinion.

George Best airport is the new name for Belfast City airport located close to the harbour area of east Belfast.

Is George Best Airport the same as Belfast City Airport? Whenever I fly into Belfast for work purposes I always try to fly in there rather than the International Airport. As someone without a car who needs to get into town from the airport and vice versa I find it more convenient.

Bit more detail needed as the first part of this review actually reviews some other companies too. Keep along the same lines, just do more...Ben

Advantages: Actually fly at sensible times from regional airports, loads of legroom Disadvantages: The use of small planes mean you feel every bump and twist; much of FlyBE's fleet are turbo-props
