...Located in the rolling granite uplands of Dartmoor, Becky Falls Woodland Park is in my opinion one of Devon’s finest attractions. With its stunning canopy made up of ancient oak trees, massive granite boulders and gushing waterfalls it provides some of the most spectacular walks in the whole of the south-west of England. The park is situated on the outskirts of Dartmoor just four miles west of Bovey Tracey. It is well sign posted on all local roads and can be easily accessed from both the M5 (coming from the north) and the A38 (from the south). It is open every day from March 27th to November 7th as well as the Christmas holidays and the February half-term. Admission to the park is £5.40 for adults and £4.40 for children, which after my visit I would definitely recommend as excellent value. Now even before we had reached the car... Read review

Advantages: on the edge of Dartmoor national park, bar always open for good food and drinks

...I’ve not actually slept in the Fox and Hounds but I’ve spent plenty of time sleeping in their garden and I’d best explain that comment quickly before you imagine im so drunk I cant get home ! The Fox and Hounds has Dartmoor national park right behind it. In a field behind the hotel they allow camping in tents, caravans and motor homes. I’ve spent a fair bit of time eating and drinking inside though. This is a really nice place and it was a hard decision whether or not to add it here. It would be a real shame if get clogged up, because as odd as it sounds for a place on the edge of Dartmoor national park, its not used as much as you would expect. I suspect the main reason it remains generally reasonable is because a couple of metres from the door runs the A386 road. This is a main road which connects Okehampton and Tavistock... Read review

...to the sea and the town centre. You are charges £3.50 to park for the duration of your stay but you need to pick up a token at reception when you want to leave the site. There are at least three disabled parking bays underground near the stairs and lifts. Reception at the Plymouth Hoe Moat House Hotel is friendly and helpful. They efficiently book you in and take on board any request you may make for your stay, early morning calls, newspapers and the like. The hotel (at reception) can also offer pre-booking and reduce entrance rates to local attractions such as the Eden Project in Cornwall.
