Great stay!
Review of Umaid Bhawan Hotel, Jaipur by
travelhero
Advantages: family runed homely 3 star heritage hotel
Disadvantages: None
...Jaipur wanting a boutique hotel Umaid Bhawan is simply delightful. The exterior and interior of the hotel is restored to a very high level. The hotel is very clean and efficiently run with a friendly manner. I came on my own to Jaipur for business and stayed at the Umaid Bhawan for 7 days. I didn't have a single bad experience at the hotel. The swimming pool is fab and so perfect to cool off in at the end of a long hot day. So surprisingly for a ... ...including food. How great is that!

HISTORICAL BEAUTY
Review of Ajit Bhawan, Jodhpur by
plug86
Advantages: Fantastic swimming pool environment
Disadvantages: HOME IMPROVEMENTS LESS OFTEN
This is truly a lovely hotel with a great swimming pool. The exterior of this hotel and surrounding gardens are outstanding a lot of thought has gone into the presentation of this place and its history. The foyer is absolutely beautiful ,beautiful kistorical pieces and flower arrangements so the place oozes charm. The staff here are very attentive and professional in there approach and attitude. There is a lovely curio shop in the main foyer as well ... ...reasonable in price. Nightly puppet shows are very entertaining. Rooms and the gardens are beautiful and the place has a lot of charm to it . The swimming pool is very unusual as it has a section that goes underneath an enclosed area with a lovely waterfall at the entrance making for a feeling to this area . The owner has a large collection of vintage cars which my husband loved. He graciously allowed my husband a personal tour with informative commentary. ...

"Welcome to the Hotel Santa Rita"
Review of Aldeia Santa Rita Hotel, Candolim by
jamspazm
Advantages: Quiet, relaxed, small hotel with high standards, efficient friendly staff
Disadvantages: Lacking excitement for a younger crowd.
"Welcome to the Hotel Santa Rita, such a lovely place, such a lovely face..."
So sing the restaurant staff to the tune of the Eagles hit "Hotel California." And indeed they are correct, even if their singing is atrocious.
The hotel complex itself is smaller than the average at 55 rooms, yet at no time does it feel claustrophobic or crammed in. In fact if anything this adds to its charm and friendly character. Situated in small well kept gardens ... ...Ayervedic clinic (for massage or traditional therapies) and a crepe restaurant.
The rooms are airy and clean. Ours contained a small kitchen area with a sink and fridge stocked with water, beer and soft drinks. A ceiling fan in each room and an air conditioner as well in the bedroom. There was also a small TV in the corner with a selection of movie, news and entertainment channels in Indian and English.
The hotel staff are some of the most welcoming ...

Don't go looking for Heritage In the Heritage Inn
Review of Heritage Inn, Amritsar by
koshkha
Advantages: Great location, fair price
Disadvantages: Surly service with too much attitude
...lazy time.
Why the Heritage Inn?
It's not that easy to get good advice on finding a hotel in Amritsar. There are few of the international hotel chains, most booking sites cover only the more expensive places and even then, not in any great detail. Alternatively you could stay almost for free in the Temple's own accommodation - I think Michael Palin did that but it's a bit different when you have a camera crew in tow.
I found the Heritage ... ...£20 per night per room and, whilst that's far from the cheapest you'll find, I thought it was pretty good value and I quite possibly would use it again. But I won't book quite so many nights next time. Heritage Inn

Lakeside View Please
Review of Resorte Marinha Dourada, Arpora by
missydoc
Advantages: Friendly staff, very clean, cheap
Disadvantages: none
We have just returned from a 2week holiday in Goa staying at the surreal Marinha Dourada hotel in Arpora, Baga.
This resort was highly recommended to us by a relative who travels to Goa every year and stays at this resort everytime. Having stayed there, I can see why they are regulars.
When we were at the stage of booking our holiday we saw pictures of the resort and to be honest did not think too much of it. It showed some lakes, a few swimming ... ...read some reviews of holiday makers who had just returned from there and had complained about some building work taking place behind the resort. I emailed the resort and was reassured by the manager Edwin that it will not affect our holiday. Now this wasn't my first trip to India but was the first time to Goa and it is totally different. It is much cleaner, full of tourists, clean restaurants but slightly more expensive than the other major cities ...
