"Welcome to the Hotel Santa Rita"
Review of Aldeia Santa Rita Hotel, Candolim by
jamspazm
Advantages: Quiet, relaxed, small hotel with high standards, efficient friendly staff
Disadvantages: Lacking excitement for a younger crowd.
"Welcome to the Hotel Santa Rita, such a lovely place, such a lovely face..."
So sing the restaurant staff to the tune of the Eagles hit "Hotel California." And indeed they are correct, even if their singing is atrocious.
The hotel complex itself is smaller than the average at 55 rooms, yet at no time does it feel claustrophobic or crammed in. In fact if anything this adds to its charm and friendly character. Situated in small well kept gardens ... ...Ayervedic clinic (for massage or traditional therapies) and a crepe restaurant.
The rooms are airy and clean. Ours contained a small kitchen area with a sink and fridge stocked with water, beer and soft drinks. A ceiling fan in each room and an air conditioner as well in the bedroom. There was also a small TV in the corner with a selection of movie, news and entertainment channels in Indian and English.
The hotel staff are some of the most welcoming ...

Don't go looking for Heritage In the Heritage Inn
Review of Heritage Inn, Amritsar by
koshkha
Advantages: Great location, fair price
Disadvantages: Surly service with too much attitude
...lazy time.
Why the Heritage Inn?
It's not that easy to get good advice on finding a hotel in Amritsar. There are few of the international hotel chains, most booking sites cover only the more expensive places and even then, not in any great detail. Alternatively you could stay almost for free in the Temple's own accommodation - I think Michael Palin did that but it's a bit different when you have a camera crew in tow.
I found the Heritage ... ...£20 per night per room and, whilst that's far from the cheapest you'll find, I thought it was pretty good value and I quite possibly would use it again. But I won't book quite so many nights next time. Heritage Inn

Lakeside View Please
Review of Resorte Marinha Dourada, Arpora by
missydoc
Advantages: Friendly staff, very clean, cheap
Disadvantages: none
We have just returned from a 2week holiday in Goa staying at the surreal Marinha Dourada hotel in Arpora, Baga.
This resort was highly recommended to us by a relative who travels to Goa every year and stays at this resort everytime. Having stayed there, I can see why they are regulars.
When we were at the stage of booking our holiday we saw pictures of the resort and to be honest did not think too much of it. It showed some lakes, a few swimming ... ...read some reviews of holiday makers who had just returned from there and had complained about some building work taking place behind the resort. I emailed the resort and was reassured by the manager Edwin that it will not affect our holiday. Now this wasn't my first trip to India but was the first time to Goa and it is totally different. It is much cleaner, full of tourists, clean restaurants but slightly more expensive than the other major cities ...

The Only Cockroach in the Hotel was the Manager
Review of Fort Ramgarh, Panchkula, Chandigarh by
koshkha
Advantages: Lovely rooms, great food
Disadvantages: The manager - he spoiled our visit and left bad memories
...for the manager of the Fort Ramgarh near Chandigarh in the Punjab, C was the answer and no other was considered. We tried to check out on the morning of Divali - the big celebration that's often likened to an Indian Christmas crossed with Guy Fawkes night. I suspect that the lines were down because everyone was hammering their credit cards buying presents.
Treating your customers with utter contempt, refusing to actually come and look them in the ... ...for the manager of the Fort Ramgarh. Needless to say, there won't be a return visit - which is a shame, because a lot of things about the hotel were very nice. But nobody should be treated the way the manager treated us.
I have never felt such a physical yearning to give someone a kick up the arse. I've never wished on anyone that they should lose their job and be found lying in a gutter - but then I'd never been to this hotel before. The manager ...

Indecent Staff, Pathetic Service
Review of Hotel Hillview, Munnar by
Rams_Hyd
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Indecent staff, unacceptable behaviour, pathetic service, poor rooms with bad odour, horrible food
...my chest and seeked the hotel people for help in the late evening around 11+PM. The first time my wife called up, the attitude was very negative and simply the person in the front desk had disconnected the call. The next time, he gave us a misleading and wrong information that there are no doctors available, and there are no hospitals that work round the clock.
We were new to Munnar, and not aware of the hospitals / doctors. This awareness is a ... ...When we came back to Hotel Hillview, to my unpleasant surprise, i found the Reservation Manager, wanting us to checkout immediately, when we had not seen Munnar at all. He initially admitted the fact that they provided wrong and misleading information and risking the guest's life there by. However, later when we requested that we wanted a day's stay more to look around Munnar, the behavior of the reservation manager turned unbearable.
They charged ...
