Olde Fashioned Hospitality?
Review of Russell Hotel, London by
helencbradshaw
Advantages: Location, good special deal room rate, large rooms, high standard accommodation, guest services
Disadvantages: F&B may be a little expensive
...situated along one side of Russell Square in the Bloomsbury area of the city was to be my home for my recent short break in the capital. Being in the hotel industry myself, I don't like to pay a fortune for hotels and I booked the hotel about two months prior to our arrival and managed to secure two double/twin rooms at the rate of £85 per room per night, through a contact. However this special rate was also available on the website, and so is achievable. ... ...block at the side of Russell Square and is one of the most imposing hotels within this location. This purpose built building dates from around the turn of the 20th century and its architecture is renaissance in style, with stunning terracotta brickwork. The hotel is large in size, with almost 400 rooms, and many overlook the square, including ours. The original floor to ceiling window frames do open out onto a small balcony area, if you want to absorb ...

Hilton Olympia ends up on Medallists' Podium
Review of Hilton London Olympia, London by
andymcf
Advantages: Comfortable, friendly and pretty stylish London hotel
Disadvantages: The movie channel didn't work properly. Minor criticism.
Hilton fan, though I may well appear to be, it was Priceline who, at a very reasonable £45 for the night, selected this hotel for me. Rarely, I was away-from-home-alone at a Meet-and-Greet in London and I'd booked the stay well in advance. The price was exceptional value, and being an Hhonors Gold VIP, I was pleased to have been allocated to the Hilton, even if its location was not entirely convenient for my proposed meeting on the other side of ... ...buses and tubes (ie underground trains), so what the hell? I was a very happy bunny. And then Al Q'aeda (it's alleged) decided to start bombing London - specialising, in a somewhat incompetent fashion, in tubes and buses. I thought long and hard. Do I avoid the terror and stay at home, or do I make a statement and go to meet what turned out to be a group of really nice people who'd congregated from miles and miles away? At the eleventh hour, I decided ...

Better Out, Than Inn
Review of Days Inn London Westminster, London by
sghawken
Advantages: Very trying staff
Disadvantages: Awkward location and difficult to navigate building.
...but I never.
The Days Inn, Westminster consists of what originally used to be three hotels. Days Inn Hotels usually consist of large purpose built accommodation, however here was not the case and the chain appear to have settled for what they could get rather than what was needed. As a result The Days Inn, Westminster seems rather cheap, badly functioning and incredibly dingy.
The Days Inn, Westminster is located approximately 10 minutes away from ... ...minute walk you'll find The Days Inn on the opposite side of the road. Of the 20 people attending the same course as myself 19 used the hotels directions and got lost, the 20th member was actually aware of the location of the hotel and stated that had they used the hotels directions they too would be lost.
As I arrived at the hotel lobby, I was immediately thrown into a sketch from the BBC series Fawlty Towers; I could not for the life of me get ...

A mixed bag - I wouldn't stay again.
Review of Millennium Bailey's Hotel, London by
claire.wizzbiz
Advantages: restaurant, friendly staff, close to tube
Disadvantages: noisy, mouse in room, unclear invoices
This hotel was a mixed bag.
I stayed with a colleague for business purposes. We stayed for one night, mid-week on April 7th 2008. I stayed in a room on the second floor and my colleague was on the first floor.
On the plus side - If you want a hotel close to a tube station, this is perfect. Gloucester Rd was right opposite, 100yds. It was also close to South Kensington which was one stop away on the tube and very nice for shopping.
The double glazing ... ...from the street. Unfortunately my window wouldn't open, it was broken. I didn't report this so just had to live with it.
I booked two single rooms for myself and a colleague, we both got double rooms, which were spacious. The bed was comfortable, linen clean, water hot and the bathroom was clean. The television in the room was very good, lots of channels, new and in working order.
I got an extremely reasonable tariff, £107 for Dinner, bed and breakfast ...

Enjoy your Stay at the Comfort Hotel
Review of Comfort Inn Harrow, London by
rowei
Advantages: Friendly staff, modern facilities, good value
Disadvantages: Some areas of the hotel not as clean as others
...area, we came across the Comfort Inn hotel, which is located 5-10 minutes walk from Northwick Park underground station (on the Metropolitan Line). This was ideal as it was just a short walk away from the hospital, Northwick Park and St. Marks. ** THE HOTEL **
The Comfort Inn hotel in Harrow belongs to a larger chain of hotels, called 'Crimson Hotels'. Crimson Hotels also own the 'Quality hotel' group which is quite well-known in the UK. Overall, ... ...will be specifically of the Comfort Inn hotel in Harrow, as this is where we stayed. As I said at the outset, this hotel is ideally situated, not only for people having to visit the nearby hospital, but also for people on business, those visiting London or even people attending sports fixtures at the nearby Wembley stadium.
The hotel itself is rated three star. It has 73 en-suite bedrooms all of which offer modern facilities such as TV with satellite, ...
