Worst Hotel In London
Review of Pembridge Palace Hotel, London by
ir8trav
Advantages: Had hot water
Disadvantages: Cost too much
Not a three star hotel! This is not even a one star hotel. The room was tiny. The television only worked on one snowy chanel. The bathroom smelled of mold and the shower curtain was slimy. There was no plug for the drain so it was impossible to take a bath. There were no glasses, very few towels, and no extra pillows. The pillows smelled and were dirty and the extra blanket had large holes. There were bugs! I received many bites and developed sores ... ...make a cup of tea. The staff were not helpful and they didn't seem to care. The carpet was threadbare and dirty (greasy). There was constant noise all night and the floors were very noisy when anyone walked on them. Outside the window there were many cigarette butts and other trash. DON"T STAY HERE IF YOU WANT A GOOD HOLIDAY!! ...

Very modern hotel in a very convenient location
Review of Chiswick Moran Hotel, Hounslow by
geordieg00
Advantages: Location, rooms
Disadvantages: Availability, lack of loyalty/points scheme
I first visited the Chiswick Moran Hotel in July 2006 when it first opened, as I'd just begun working in Brentford about a mile from the hotel and it fast became my favourite hotel in the area. Since then i've stayed there probably in excess of 150 nights over the last 2 years.
The Hotel
The hotel is part of a small chain owned by an Irish family which has other hotels in Central London and Dublin. As I mentioned above, the hotel itself is ... ...proper workout.
The Location
Chiswick is an absolutely great town in West London and one of the few places in London that I would feel safe walking around on my own in the dark. The main street through Chiswick, Chiswick High Road, is a busy bustling tree lined road packed full of shops, bars, restaurants and much more. Not far from Twickenham, the England rugby team often stay in the hotel....its a surreal experience having breakfast with ...

Visiting the ancestors in Cortez
Review of Express by Holiday Inn, Cortez, Colorado by
koshkha
Advantages: Good quality rooms, great beds, right side of town for the park
Disadvantages: Breakfast was worth everything we paid for it - i.e. nothing
...you, the answer is the Express by Holiday Inn Cortez.
When I was frantincally booking rooms, I hit a roadblock over Cortez. Finding cheapies had been going really well and we'd taken advantage of the off-season to get some fantastic places for very little money. However, when we looked for something cheap in Cortez, a town in the South West of Colorado, we really struggled. We later learned that whilst the mountain areas of Colorado were off-season ... ...night at the Holiday Inn Express in Cortez. Whilst a Holiday Inn Express in the UK will generally cost 15,000 points, this one was 25,000 would it be worth it?
Why go to Cortez?
That's a good question because the town itself seems to have very little to offer. It's a fairly small town, laid out on either side of one big wide street and with few signs of any obvious charm. It's like a zillion other small Amerian towns. However, Cortez has ...

Express Holiday Inn Earls Court, London
Review of Express By Holiday Inn Earls Court, London by
costas1234
Advantages: Good location in London
Disadvantages: Expensive to say the least.
...area. Directly opposite the Express by Holiday Inn (Earls Court) is a Thai Bangkok restaurant and a Beds ltd furniture store. On the corner of the main road is a Polish Coffee shop and many other restaurants going towards Fulham.
Upon entry to the reception area I found the check in process to be fast and efficient, in that it took me around 4 minutes to have my payment taken and also my room card handed over to me. I was asked to confirm my name ... ...over the telephone. Nothing else was asked at this time, not even a passport which was good.
The reception area was manned on a 24/7 basis with a security guard on site. The rooms available to rent out where on either a smoking and non smoking basis. I selected the non smoking option. The hotel has a bar open which is open until 23:00 and the hotel also has a reward scheme where regular visitors can obtain discounts or free visits upon adequate ...

Good value, comfortable hotel.
Review of Thistle City Barbican, London by
Arboy1971
Advantages: Service, room facilities, price
Disadvantages: Location - it is slightly out of the centre, takeaway breakfast
...I saw an offer for Thistle City Barbican on Travelzoo and phoned reservations quoting the code MMM23. The offer was for a Double Deluxe room with breakfast for £79. I was hoping that they would have a family room under this offer too so I asked the very helpful Wendy who checked for me and, although there wasn't one available, she told me that they would put a Z-bed in the room for us. All was well so far.
The Thistle website says that there are ... ...and we found that the easiest was Old Street on the Northern line which is about a 10 minute walk away. The area in which the hotel is situated looks a little ragged but we felt quite safe. The room was almost identical to the website picture (the red room) apart from the sofa-bed being against the window wall and there was a large LCD TV (with loads of channels available) and not a CRT. The sofa-bed was already made up as a bed when we got there ...
