Great Hotel
Review of Beacon Hotel, New York City by Raychella

Advantages: Amenities Close-by
Disadvantages: Noise if window open from street

I stayed here about a year and a half ago now. I went to New York for a college trip. There was 6 of us to a one bedroom suite, two double beds and one double pull-out sofa bed. It was a comfortable few nights sleep. The room also had a bathroom and small kitchenette. The kitchenette had a microwave, stove, kettle etc. Both the bedroom and living room had a tv. Our heating wasn't working in the living room, so we informed reception. They sent someone ...
...about 11.30pm. The only slight problem was our room was facing Broadway and if you left the window open you would wake up from the morning traffic if a light sleeper! The subway station is a little bit of a walk but not too far. The hotel is within walking distance of Central Park. There is a little supermarket directly opposite the hotel. There is a cafe next to the hotel with Starbuck's directly across from that. ... Read review

Dreamy
Review of Dream, New York City by CptSergeRidic

Advantages: Location, comfort and staff
Disadvantages: slow lift - hardly a trip spoiler

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for New Year, we'd checked it out on their website and on trip advisor. We were not disappointed, beautiful reception area and helpful receptionists. When we got into the room, we were amazed - it looked just like the website. We knew we weren't going to be spending much time in the room, but we had a great night sleep every night, no noise from the street at all. The hotel is close to everything you want in the ...
...mins from times square and about 5 mins from central park and the subway station is right outside the hotel. I can't recommend this place more highly, i absolutely loved it and the bar on the top floor has amazing views over times square. Although when we went it was slightly more expensive than normal, i still felt that we got a great deal. It depends what you're looking for in a hotel and how much you are prepared to pay. This is a reasonably ... Read review

Good value hotel with no frills
Review of Milford Plaza Hotel, New York City by Arboy1971

Advantages: Location, customer service
Disadvantages: Can't think of any really.

...were eventually accommodated at the Milford Plaza and I cannot reccommend them enough for their outstanding customer service. The front desk staff were extremely helpful in trying to solve our predicament and found us a room at mega short notice. As for the accommodation, the room we were allocated was on a high floor and had a king bed, TV, table and chairs, en--suite bathroom with shower and all of the usual accoutrements you would expect of this ...
...below and there are a few sex shops in the area which makes it seem a little seedy but it seemed safe enough to us. The best feature by far is the location. You are only a few blocks from Times Square and also to Penn Station. Good value overall. ... Read review

Advantages: got everything so close by

Edison hotel was built in 1931in true Art Deco style it is situated in the heart of New York. On 228 West 47th Street just half a block from Times Square and one block from restaurant row also either direction you'll have Broadway so the situation of this hotel is perfect. when checking in i was immediately greeted by friendly staff. as usual i thought a lift would take ages and we where on the 7th floor but suprisingly the lifts came quickly. on ...
...the view as it was off a back of the street and became noisy in the morning with lorries delievering stuff. the rooms had really high ceiling with a cupboard with a tv for entertainment and lots of storage for unpackaging. the bathroom was very small , with basic sink, bath and toilet. unfortunately our lock on the bathroom was broken but staff fixed that asap. The hotel made me feel really safe with the security on 24/7. the hotel comprised of a ... Read review

Rude and impossible receptionist
Review of La Quinta Manhattan, New York City by henkwill

Advantages: Nice location
Disadvantages: Impossible reception

...past I stayed at the La Quinta hotel at the Ontario airport in California. There I had the most wonderful stay. I told a friend about it and because of that he stayed at the La Quinta in Santa Rosa New Mexico and had a very pleasant stay as well. Those experiences moved the La Quinta chain clearly up on our lists of hotel-preferences. That's also why I booked the La Quinta again in Manhattan. Accessibility. The hotel is very close to a number of ...
...before (not even in the La Quintain in Los Angeles). He even had the guts to say that he wasn't obliged to let me into the hotel if I didn't show a passport. When I had half of my suitcase unpacked (in order to search for my passport), he complained about the contents of my suitcase being displayed in public, while it was him in the first place who had demanded me to do so. To be frank, I think that this man should find another job. Housekeeping ... Read review
