Great location but little else
Review of 60 Thompson, New York City by
gingernut_1
Advantages: Excellent location
Disadvantages: Expensive
The Thomson Sixty is a relatively new "boutique" hotel in Soho New York. Location wise it is excellent, ten minutes walk away from the nearest subway, 5 minutes walk to the stylish Soho shops and excellent restaurants and bars around. Both Little Italy and Chinatown are in walking distance.
I stayed there with three friends and the hotel said we could all stay in one room. We thought this was great as it would cut down our costs, however the room ... ...Every other hotel I have stayed in in the US have had Queen or Kingsize beds.
The other problem with the hotel was the heat. It was winter so the bar conditioning had been turned off but you had no control of the heating in the bedroom. We had to leave the windows open all day and at night had to shut the window due to New York noise but the room became unbearably hot. Reception were not helpful in this matter.
the hotel bar was nice except some ...

Great Base For A Week In New York...
Review of Affinia 50, New York City by
MRDuddy
Advantages: Location..Price..Service..Quality..Staff..
Disadvantages: None..
...and all sites gave the Affinia 50 in New York top marks. So I had no hesitations reserving a suite.
We were travelling to New York as a surprise trip for my brothers 30th Birthday, and on the advise of a review, I mailed prior to departure asking if they could ensure us a room with a view..This unfortunately was not attained, but we were offered another room if we wished to change. And a bottle of wine was sent up for us as a gesture. Greatly appreciated! ... ...Upon your return to the Affinia 50 after spending each day out exploring the city, you're greeted on the doorstep by the VERY (almost overly) polite doorman who utters a "Welcome home" to each resident. Gets a little tiresome after a while, but adds to the whole ambience of being in New York, I guess!
All in all this was a perfect base for our week in the Big Apple and I'd definitely stay here again. If there's a group of you going over I'd highly ...

Great Hotel
Review of Beacon Hotel, New York City by
Raychella
Advantages: Amenities Close-by
Disadvantages: Noise if window open from street
I stayed here about a year and a half ago now. I went to New York for a college trip.
There was 6 of us to a one bedroom suite, two double beds and one double pull-out sofa bed. It was a comfortable few nights sleep. The room also had a bathroom and small kitchenette. The kitchenette had a microwave, stove, kettle etc. Both the bedroom and living room had a tv.
Our heating wasn't working in the living room, so we informed reception. They sent someone ... ...about 11.30pm.
The only slight problem was our room was facing Broadway and if you left the window open you would wake up from the morning traffic if a light sleeper!
The subway station is a little bit of a walk but not too far. The hotel is within walking distance of Central Park. There is a little supermarket directly opposite the hotel. There is a cafe next to the hotel with Starbuck's directly across from that. ...

THE budget hotel to stay in on your visit to NYC..
Review of Belleclaire Hotel, New York City by
psychobunni
Advantages: Clean, Comfortable, Very cheap.
Disadvantages: No views from the windows, Small lifts.
...2006! I chose the Belleclaire for the second time, after being so pleased after my first visit two years ago. The reviews I had read before the first trip on various websites were all pretty good apart from the odd one that complained about things such as the renovation that was being undertaken at that point in time and the odd dingy bathroom. I went not expecting a fantastic hotel but a basic, comfortable hotel and I was not let down in any way ... ...We arrived at the hotel Belleclaire for our 5 night stay and were greeted by the doorman who pointed us to the reception in the lovely modern foyer. We were checked in quickly, with no problems then directed to our rooms which was only a few floors up. We waited for one of the lifts (there were two, both were small but never busy) and found our rooms with ease. We had booked a double room with a shared bathroom on a non-smoking floor, the room was ...

Bentley Hotel - New York New York!!!!
Review of Bentley Hotel, New York City by
wendybull
Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony
Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!!
...Anyway we stayed at The Bentley Hotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there.
**ABOUT THE HOTEL**
The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice. It has 197 rooms in total, which range in quality depending on which sort you book. We had a regular ... ...wet and warm!
The Bentley provides quite a few services for it’s guests, which I will tell you about, but we never used any of these so I cannot comment on their usefulness or how good they were.
Laundry/Valet service
Room Service
Safety Deposit boxes
Hotel parking at a charge of $20 for 24 hours.
Children under 10 stay free here but we were lucky enough to be able to leave our son with the in laws for the few days we were there, so it was ...
