Review of InterContinental The Barclay New York, New York City by
ChrisBT
Advantages: Beautiful decoration, lavish
Disadvantages: A few mixups!!
On first appearances this is a wonderful hotel, lavish, expensive and truly worth the money.
The incontinetal Barclay hotel is on 111 East 48th Street, New York, NY 10017 which is pretty much slap bang right in the middle of where everything happens. The Empire State building a 5 minute walk away in one direction and grand central park 5 minutes in the opposite direction.
When you first arrive you will see the hotel stretch into the sky, it is ... ...from the rain. When you book in you cannot help to notice the lavish roof and centrepiece. After 5 miutes of booking in your bags are taken upto your room ready for when you meet them!! The rooms are quite nice with small touches to give the room its finishing details. Unfortunatly there was a problem with our room, the room wasn't made for four and we had to be moved!
The second room, they had to supply us with another bed so my brother and I could ...

New York Palace
Review of New York Palace, New York City by
long-suffering
Advantages: Lovely Hotel, friendly staff, very comfortable rooms, great position near the best shops and right across from St Patricks Church
Disadvantages: Rooms a little small, and food was EXPENSIVE!!
We went to New York to visit friends we hadn't seen for years and decided we would splash out and stay somewhere 'nice'. We couldn't have been any happier with the Hotel or the staff. The Hotel has an impressive lobby, smallish but beatifully tasteful. As we walked in to the lobby for the first time, the doorman asked our name and immediately seemed to know of our expected arrival. From then on, everyone know our name. This may seem a little overpowering ... ...had everything we could want, although the view was limited and the space was small, but this could have been because we had 2 adults and 2 children in the room. Food was expensive but luckily, there was a brilliant deli right next door where we had breakfst every day and often got a coffee or snack later in the day.
The Palace was a great hotel and well worth a visit. ...

within the heart
Review of Edison Hotel, New York City by
gemnewbie21
Advantages: got everything so close by
Disadvantages: oldie worldie decour
Edison hotel was built in 1931in true Art Deco style it is situated in the heart of New York. On 228 West 47th Street just half a block from Times Square and one block from restaurant row also either direction you'll have Broadway so the situation of this hotel is perfect. when checking in i was immediately greeted by friendly staff. as usual i thought a lift would take ages and we where on the 7th floor but suprisingly the lifts came quickly. on ... ...the view as it was off a back of the street and became noisy in the morning with lorries delievering stuff. the rooms had really high ceiling with a cupboard with a tv for entertainment and lots of storage for unpackaging. the bathroom was very small , with basic sink, bath and toilet. unfortunately our lock on the bathroom was broken but staff fixed that asap. The hotel made me feel really safe with the security on 24/7. the hotel comprised of a ...

Rude and impossible receptionist
Review of La Quinta Manhattan, New York City by
henkwill
Advantages: Nice location
Disadvantages: Impossible reception
...past I stayed at the La Quinta hotel at the Ontario airport in California. There I had the most wonderful stay. I told a friend about it and because of that he stayed at the La Quinta in Santa Rosa New Mexico and had a very pleasant stay as well. Those experiences moved the La Quinta chain clearly up on our lists of hotel-preferences. That's also why I booked the La Quinta again in Manhattan.
Accessibility.
The hotel is very close to a number of ... ...before (not even in the La Quintain in Los Angeles). He even had the guts to say that he wasn't obliged to let me into the hotel if I didn't show a passport. When I had half of my suitcase unpacked (in order to search for my passport), he complained about the contents of my suitcase being displayed in public, while it was him in the first place who had demanded me to do so. To be frank, I think that this man should find another job.

New Yorker Hotel Stay - May 2008
Review of Ramada Plaza & Inn - New Yorker Hotel, New York City by
Bodatron
Advantages: Great location, clean and tidy.
Disadvantages: A little dated, but being refurbished.
My wife and I stayed at the New Yorker Hotel between 20th - 25th May 2008. The staff were always very helpful and curtious. The room decor was a little dated, but clean and tidy. The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment, but the work was not noticeable to the guests. The "tick-tock" diner is located in the front entrance of the hotel, which was very good for breakfast, with a great service! The hotel location is great, with the subway just outside ...
