Under 10 minutes walk to Times Square
Review of The Roosevelt Hotel, New York City by
MILLSY99
Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: It averageness
...went to New York for the first time back in Jan 07 checked out a few websites for the complete deal at this point the Roosevelt was the special on most of the websites, I stayed for 8 nights and got 2 of them nights for free due to a promotion which was running at the time.
On arrival at the hotel one of the many baggage men arranged to take out bags to our room...first time in visiting the US I will put this down to experience, it is much easier to make your own way to the room and also saving yourself a few bucks in the process.
The Room was of good size, enough to fit everything in, I would say that of the rooms which I seen, it appears to be a bit dated and in need of updating it felt quite comfortable after unpacking and watching a bit of american tv, the hotel ...

Give it a try, you might like it!
Review of Shelburne Murray Hill, New York City by
claire.wizzbiz
Advantages: Price, location, cleanliness
Disadvantages: Outdated decor and furniture
We stayed here for one night in April 2007 during a flying visit to NYC. It was a last minute arrangement and we booked through lastminute.com. This hotel had an excellent location. We easily walked to Times Square, Chrysler Building, Bloomingdales etc.. We also walked to China Town, although this was a bit more of a trek. The hotel was very close to an excellent steak house called The Capital Grille - which i would recommend 100% - superbe place ... ...excellent, sincere and helpful - I say sincere as this is something i found lacking in most sales people in New York. We had a suite, which had excellent space. 2 queen size beds. As a couple on holiday, we'd normally find this odd, but actually walking around NYC was exhausting, so a comfy bed each was lovely. I have to be honest, the room's furniture and decor needed updating, the sofa had a hole in it, the curtains were a bit shabby. We had just ...

Comfortable business class hotel in great location
Review of Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers, New York City by
Uncle_Tippet
Advantages: Great mid-town location. Newly renovated
Disadvantages: Large. Service is spotty.
...It's main competition is the Sheraton a block away on 7th Ave. The Hilton is a huge hotel (over 1000 rooms with 44 floors) and is a busy during convention season. We visited New York in October and stayed at the Hilton for 2 nights with our children and what follows below is a recap of our experience. Rates: We used Hotwire and managed to get a great $135/night rate. The standard weekday rates range from $250-$350. (Hint: Hotwire has it as a 4 star ... ...Park hotels or even the Sheraton by Times Square. The rooms looking down 6th Avenue have the better views of neon lights so you'll have to ask for it. Breakfast is available in the hotel at the New York Marketplace restaurant ($14 for the continental buffet; $17 for the full American buffet with eggs and omelets cooked to order and $19 for the Japanese buffet). There's also the standard hotel lounge which was very loud and filled with smoke; and ...

Review of Casablanca, New York City by
howaysali
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
Great value hotel right in the heart of Manhattan,at 147 West 43rd St, New York. Just off Times Square but more a quiet oasis than bustling metropolis. Extremely well run.
Totally themed out in Morroccan style (mosiac tiling and palms throughout) its actually pretty authentic. Owner and staff are all North African or at least second generation.
Bookings can be made and discounts can be haggled over online at casablancahotel.com. Thers free wine ...

wonderful warwick
Review of The Warwick, New York City by
angieluvslycee
Advantages: location
Disadvantages: price
...distance from jfk airport so the taxi was very expensive.
the location is superb only a few blocks down from the wonderful central park,
there are loads of restaurants to choose from all within a 2 minute walk.
the lobby is tiny but check in was very quick and painless.
the room was small for american standards but was very clean and stylish, the bathroom was exceptional with a marble floor and marble sink.
room had internet conection, cable tv,playstation, mini ... ...the bar was also good but seemed to close up quite early.
the room had no view but not to sure if any room had.
the hotel price was expensive but was worth every penny.
overall the experience of stopping at the warwick was fantastic.
found out later that the hotel was home to many stars over the years including elvis presley, the beatles, and cary grant. ...
