4 Stars Alton Towers Theme Park Review with images 11/08/2012
    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages Unique Attractions

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Queing times

Alton towers is quite a popular theme park which means during the summer months it can some times becomes over crowded. It is well known for its unique attractions and I would recommend anyone looking for a fun day out to go there. It has attractions for all the family from young children to adults and is ideal for a family day out. However due to its huge popularity sometimes to experience the more unique attractions you would have to spend quite some time waiting. There are many different places to eat in side the park itself as well as snack bars and vending machines scattered all over the ... more

5 Stars A Great Day Out Review with images 03/06/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Great roller coasters, beautiful park, friendly staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages Parking charge, distance between attractions, food prices

I find it surprising that Alton Towers was voted 'Britain's Worst Day Out' just several years ago, yes queue times can be inexcusable and it is a tad pricey but there are ways around both aspects. When I visited Alton Towers with a friend in April, the gate price for entry stood at £39.60 which is a little expensive however we had 2-for-1 vouchers from The Sun newspaper so we got in for £19.80 each. I think £19.80 is very reasonable for unlimited rides on world class roller coasters. These 2-for-1 vouchers are easy to attain, when we stopped in the services, we were even given a 2-for-1 ... more

    Advantages Advantages everything

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I visited Alton Towers back in mid October with my boyfriend and friends. We got a 2 days park ticket well worth it as there's so many rides and even though the weather wasn't the best it was soooo quiet and the longest we had to queue was about 15 minutes for Rita Queen of Speed. One word of warning though, when you go into the park the staff offer you a video camera that you put on your wrist and it films you on some of the rides. The staff say its free for you to take it into the park but don't tell you it will cost £10 PER VIDEO if you want to buy it! It's a 20 minute video in total but ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Rides, Nice Scenery

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive

Alton Towers Theme Park - Staffordshire Whenever I hear the name Alton Towers I am instantly turned into a giddy little boy with wide eyes and a beaming smile. I simply love the place! My first visit to Alton Towers was at the age of ten, since then I have been back around twenty times. When I was young it was an exciting day out with my family and then as I got older it became a yearly pilgrimage with a variety of my closest friends. Over the years I have done pretty much everything there is to do at the theme park, a few years ago I seemed to inherit the nickname ‘Mr Alton Towers’ whenever ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Alton Towers, Birmingham by roger81046 15/10/2007
Whoever told you that Alton Towers was in Birmingham knew very little about Geography - it is about 35 miles to the North East and is difficult to reach other than by car. When you compare the number and quality of rides with the likes of Disneyland Paris then Alton Towers has a great deal more to offer for a similar entrance fee. Food prices are no worse than other similar venues, and who wants to carry bags of food around when trying to have fun? You do have to be prepared to queue for up to an hour for the ... more

Advantages Advantages amazing rides, often updated

Disadvantages Disadvantages pricey meals and games

For me Alton Towers is the best attraction in the UK for any thrill-seeker. The rides are constantly being updated and as a result it remains one of the best theme parks in Europe. Rides such as Rita, Air, Nemesis, Ripsaw and oblivion are unmissable, but there are many other quality rides which should also be included in a days adventure such as corkscrew, the log flume and spinball whizzer. Although the park does cater for ounger visitors i would say that it is primarily for teens and above and younger visitors are more restricted to what is available to them. In the park there are many food ... more

Advantages Advantages very good rides , but not good in bad weather

    Disadvantages Disadvantages the price

Alton Towers is easy to find as it is near stoke on trent, in Alton there are plenty of signs to get there as well as their plenty of car parking places which will cost you about £6.00 pound which i thought was a bit steep but even now you have to go to the monorail which takes you direct in to the alton towers theme park entrance. It is open between 9.30am and 5-30 pm in the summer you can also book the hotel as well in alton towers but it starting price is a bit price i thought at £ 149.00. you can also buy your ticket eaither online or i the park wihich i thought the pricing was a bit ... more

Advantages Advantages Great rides, particularly the rollercoasters

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, have to pay for parking, litter in the park

I've been to Alton Towers a number of times over the past 10 years so decided to go back a few months ago with some of my friends. Sadly, although some of the old Alton Towers magic is still there, it has lost some of its appeal for me. Alton Towers is located in Staffordshire, and you have to take some very windy roads to get to the park, so its best to leave quite early, as we did, because queues on the road do build up. We went during the Easter holidays, which meant that the park was absolutely heaving with adults and children, which also meant that queues for rides were very long ... more

Advantages Advantages Thrilling rides, easy navigation, did i mention the rides!

Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive but most theme parks are

I went to alton towers for my girlfriends' mates' birthday... it rained most of the day and although it was a weekday it was very busy. It was still THE best theme park ive been to (and yes I have been to other theme parks). It is open 9.30am - 7pm (this is based on when I went in August) the rides open at 10am and the park closes on the 5th November. Entrance fees are expensive, Adults are £29.50, children (4-11) are £19, under 1m are free (which should be changed to under 4s) and disabled and senior visitors are £14.50. Groups of 10+ are £14.75 each. There are many ways of getting cheaper ... more

5 Stars A trip to the Towers. Review with images 23/08/2006
    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages Something for everyone.

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's losing it's magic.

**BEWARE** This is a long review. However I have divided it up so you can hopefully find the particular information that you are after if you don't fancy reading all the way through. ***HISTORY*** There is far to much that has happened over the years at Alton to write it all down here. Plus there are some fabulous websites, which I shall add at the end where you can find out all about the history, legends and stories from days gone by. So I'll just quickly bring you up to date. The Towers spent many years being passed down the Talbot family, who were all the Earls of Shrewsbury. 15th Earl of ... more
