Advantages Advantages They sometimes run buses

Disadvantages Disadvantages Overcrowded, unreliable, dirty, drivers are unfriendly

So, Arriva. Specifically, Arriva buses in Darlington. The random, ramshackle end of my daily commute, ensuring that I'll arrive in work at a different time each day. Let's start with actually catching a bus in the first place. The board at my usual bus stop assures me there's a timetable; within the first week of using Arriva services, you'll soon come to the realisation that the poster on the wall is actually a list of times when you can guarantee that there won't be a bus arriving. It seems that things are pretty much completely random. Some days, I'll have to wait a couple of minutes for my ... more

    Advantages Advantages Regular as clockwork

Disadvantages Disadvantages I would obviously prefer a cab!

I never imagined myself as someone who would spend time writing reviews about Bus Journeys, but I felt bound to leap to the defence of Arriva as they currently have a two star rating! I should state that I do understand that services will vary enormously around the country and I have had some bad bus journeys in the past...but I have discovered a very reliable buse servie in Watford that I have been nothing but impressed with. I regularly use the 142 or 258 from Watford Junction to Brent Cross as I often like to pop up to Bushey High Street, rather than go into Watford town centre...I feel it ... more

Advantages Advantages Get you from a-b most the time

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dont turn up when you need them to, arent reliable and rocketing costs

Arriva buses... I have so many gripes with this company. I moved to derby around 6 years ago, and since the price for the buses has rocketed. I remember when i had to pay just £1 for a return to town. Since then, the prices have gradually gone up by around 10p each time...Now i have to pay 90p each way, as they have decided to 'stop' return tickets all together! The company seems to constantly bump up the prices, because they know they can get away with it. I contacted them on this and they seemed to think that it was 'because of rising fuel costs'. Okay, fair enough, it sounds somewhat ... more

    1 Star Arriva Buses 29/11/2007

Advantages Advantages Marginally better than walking in the rain.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dirty, slow and expensive.

Like alot of people living in suburban environments I try and avoid public transport like the plague. However, recently I have had to resort to using the "services" of local monopoly operator, Arriva. Arriva are probably the reason cars are so popular; they represent everything thats wrong with public transport in the UK. There services are overpriced, uncomfortable and nearly always late. Living on the periphery of London in Hertfordshire I regularly get to experience how things can be. They publish timetables that are complete works of fiction, neither the departure nor arrival times can be ... more

    Advantages Advantages Comes regularly

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dirty buses, moody drivers, expensive prices.

When i have used the Arriva buses they have been way over-priced. The buses smelt. The drivers were moody. The buses were covered in litter and graffiti and on the top deck, teenagers get up to a lot of things. I prefer to use Centrebus, which also uses a similar route. Despite coming less frequently, I use Centrebus because of the price and basically it is opposite to everything that I have mentioned about Arriva above. Recently in my area there were First buses running the same routes as Arriva and cheaper costs - an amazing 50p for children and £1 for adults. It was claimed that the Arriva ... more

    Advantages Advantages erm..

    Disadvantages Disadvantages They still exist

Wouldn't it be nice to have a bus service? Yes! Unfortunately Arriva do not provide this. 18 Months ago Arriva ran an adequete service, with a decent number of Low-Floor Buses. Then on 30th April 2006, someone in their Wisdom (??????) decided to mess it up. Now the bus service is terrible. My local route is supposed to run every 10 minutes, however it is not unknown for me to wait up to three-quarters of an hour!!!! Arriva North East need to hang their heads in shame, and sort out the mess. Go North East, from go-ahead are exceptionally good, with reliable buses, which are clean and well ... more

1 Star Quick review of Arriva by guildfordguy 30/10/2007
well where does one start, Arriva buses are nearly allways late or never turn up for my girl who works in bramley near guildford. She waits, waits, then waits some more and then, if a bus does turn up she gets into guildford town too late to catch the next Arriva bus home so calls me instead which by this time its 6.40pm, she finishes work at 5.00pm. Bramley is only about 15 mins drive away so why oh why do Arriva miss it out?????????????????????? BAD SERVICE.

Advantages Advantages Nice colour scheme...seriously nothing

Disadvantages Disadvantages Abusive Staff, Daylight-robbery pricing, late buses

Arriva is one of the largest bus companies in the UK. Unfortuanately it is the only service available in my area, so If you are a student like me without a car, its either use them or walk. There isn't anything good to sya about them so Ill list their bad points: -Abusive Staff: All Arriva bus drivers are grumpy ( I think its in the job description). I have even been shouted at by a bus driver, who called me a "liar" in front of the whole bus because I thought I could use a discount card on a day ticket! Talk about service with a smile! If you only have a £10 note on you, don't even bother ... more

Advantages Advantages I get to work...

    Disadvantages Disadvantages ...just

I am writing about the level of service, or lack thereof, on the 49A Southport / Liverpool. I have for the last year been commuting to Liverpool city centre from Southport on the train as I felt the shorter journey time and direct route would be worth the extra fare. But this week, due to engineering works (that I'm certain they are aware of as arriva is dealing with the rail replacement service), I had decided to give the bus a trial run. The first thing to strike me was just how late the service arrived in Liverpool after being picked up on time on Liverpool road in Birkdale. Of course I ... more
