~ Bath ~ The City of Bath has been my main home for all my life. Even though I live just outside of Bath it has always been the closest big city where I have spent a lot of time. I used to go to college there and work but now I do not visit the City so much and only go in for meals and rugby matches. Never the less it is still a fantastic place to visit. The Georgian City is beautifully structured has is set amongst the countryside. It has many places to visit and much to learn about the history of the town. Bath is one of the world’s greatest cities and is a huge tourist attraction to ... more

Due to the suggestion that my original review about this wonderful city I live in was a copy, I am writing yet more to this review. And this really is for the benefit of everyone. I want to let you all know how lovely Bath is and that you should visit some day. Bath is a wonderful place to visit and I will suggest to you some of the highlights you could consider when visiting this beautiful city. Hot air ballooning is a majory activity in Bath, and also Bristol. Many companies offer morning or evening flights across the city of Bath, with wonderful views of the area. Having been on a flight ... more

The first piece of advice I'll give you about Bath is to stay in Swindon. I know that sounds a bit weird and I'll cover the reason for it both later here and in a review of Oxford I've yet to do. When my friend was coming from Hong Kong to visit, he wanted me to take him to Bath. I started doing all the research for hotels etc and soon discovered that anything bigger than a family house is quite pricey. That's where Swindon comes into it. To be honest, Swindon is a bit...well....iffy - but a 3 star hotel there is about half the price it is in Bath so we saved £30 per night. The other advantage ... more

Want to take a bath? Don´t go inside the Roman Baths in Bath...the water is smelly and far tooo hot.... No, but of course go and visit them. In the middle of roman ruins and old well preserved sones you find a hot spring. 46 degrees centigrade ar enough to boil your feet or hands a bit if you put them in. You can do that in the Great Bath in the middle of the Roman Baths and Museum, the water is pleasantly green there. Put a few coins in another bath - meaning you want to return back - and have a look at the first floor heating of the world. All done by the Romans. And the plumbers were good ... more

I recently went on a short boating holiday in Bradford-on-avon which is about 10 miles from bath by car.The trip i went was a long boat holiday that involves alot of hiking and cycling and if your into fishing, a bit of that too.On two of the days i went to bath to visit some of the historical landmarks such as the roman baths and the cathedral. The cathedral is thousands of years old but is still in tip top condition and the craftsmanship and detail that has gone in to every inch of the place is just breathtaking.Th baths are special too as they are i think the only roman baths still open to ... more

When we took our amazing journey on The Orient Express, a tour of Bath was part of the deal and what a lovely city it is. It has something to interest everyone from Roman Ruins to excellent shopping malls, together with museums and an abbey. The Roman Baths are a must see. Built around a hot spring which still produces water at 46.5 degrees centigrade, the original Roman building was about 20 feet below the level of the pavement today and has been excavated to reveal a wealth of architecture. The principal feature is the Great Bath which is now open to the elements but which was roofed in ... more

Bath is a delightful city to visit, full of culture, history and charm. It may be a relatively small city by comparison with others but it has a great deal to offer the visitor. The Celts revered Bath’s healing springs as being sacred to Sulis their goddess it was the Romans who founded the first real community there in the 1st centuary AD. It was known by them as ‘Aquae Sulis’, translated as Waters of Sulis. After the Roman town came occupations of the area by the Saxons followed by a medieval settlement all centred around the magical healing spas. During the Georgian era ... more

One of the cities that all those visitors just have to see and stay at. Should be one of those cities that all residents of the Uk should be made to go to for it is an education in itself. If you have not done so already pack up your bags and spend a minimum of three days exploring what is on offer. Shopping is at least as good as anywhere else but that is not what you are here for. Avoid the tourist type shops at all costs since it is unlikely that you will see anything of true value. What you are here for is georgeous glorius Georgian Bath. There is much history in this city and you will do ... more

I can remember my first school trip was to Bath for a visit to the Roman Baths and I went back last year. The Baths are well worth a visit, take a guided tour, then of course there are refreshments in the famous pump rooms and if you are brave you can taste the water, although to be honest, I don't recomend it, I think it is an acquired taste!!!! Then there are beautiful gardens, good places to relax, being a tourist centre you can always take a good trip around the city via open topped bus for a resonable charge. There are plenty of places to eat to suit all budgets and the nightlife is good ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice architecture, lots to see and do

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Crowded

Bath is a beautiful city. Unfortunately, all and sundry think so too, and most of the interesting architecture is obscured by vast parties of tourists all wearing radioactive cagoules and rucksacks containing the whole western hemisphere. In trying to avoid them you only encounter hoards of beggars who assume that anyone going to Bath is rich and gullible and therefore worthy of being plagued. If you are prepared for these motley crews, Bath is worth a visit. When I went it poured down all weekend but I still had a good time. The most obvious attractions are the Roman baths themselves and the ... more
